Oscar Rodrigues Alves (also known as Oscar Rodrigues Alves Neto), born September 29, 1969, is a Brazilian film director, editor, producer and web entrepreneur. He is a founder of MTV Brasil as well as the writer, editor and director of ''Titãs – A Vida Até Parece Uma Festa'' (''Titãs - Life Even Looks Like a Party''), a 2008 Brazilian documentary about the rock band Titãs from its inception. The documentary was the recipient of the 2009 MTV Video Music Brazil Best Musical Documentary or Movie award. He also won the 2002 Video of the Year, Best Rock Video and Viewer's Choice for Titãs' ''Epitáfio''. He has won 10 MTV Video Music Brazil since 2001. Early life Alves' great-grandfather, Francisco de Paula Rodrigues Alves, was the 5th President of Brazil. Os Paralamas do Sucesso (also known simply as Paralamas) is a Brazilian rock band, formed in Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro, in the late 1970s. Its members since 1982 are Herbert Vianna (guitar and lead vocals), Bi Ribeiro (bass), and João Barone (drums). In its beginning, the band combined reggae and ska with rock, but later added horn arrangements and Latin rhythms. Cidade Negra ( pt, Black City) is a Brazilian reggae band formed in 1986 in Rio de Janeiro. Their style is influenced by soul and rock music. Djavan Caetano Viana (; born 27 January 1949) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. Early life and career Djavan was born in Maceió, Brazil to a white father of Dutch descent and a black mother. He later formed the group Luz, Som, Dimensão (LSD – "Light, Sound, Dimension"), playing Beatles' material. In 1973, Djavan moved to Rio de Janeiro and started singing soap opera soundtracks. 2009 MTV Video Music Brazil
The 2009 MTV Video Music Brazil was hosted by Marcelo Adnet and took place at the Credicard Hall. It awarded the best in Brazilian music, popular culture and internet culture in the year of 2009. Despite being a Brazilian awards show, the 2009 VMB included live performances by American rapper Ja Rule (in duet with Brazilian pop singer Wanessa) and Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand, who were also nominated in the Best International Act category (but lost to Britney Spears).
