Oscar Murillo
Oscar Murillo (born 1986 in La Paila, Colombia) is an artist working within the painting tradition. He currently lives and works in various locations. Curator and writer Legacy Russell has said that the artist explores "the body in transit", while curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist has spoken of a "blurring €¦between art and life" occurring in Murillo’s multidisciplinary works. In 2019, he co-won the Turner Prize after requesting with his fellow nominees (Tai Shani, Helen Cammock, and Lawrence Abu Hamdan) that the jury award the prize for the first time to all four nominated artists. Early life and education Murillo was born and spent the first ten years of his life in La Paila, a small town in the Valle del Cauca Department of Colombia, and one of the country's largest producer's of sugarcane. David Zwirner Gallery is an American contemporary art gallery owned by David Zwirner. It has four gallery spaces in New York City and one each in London, Hong Kong, and Paris. History The Zwirner Gallery opened in 1993 on the ground floor of 43 Greene Street in SoHo in New York City, with a one-man show of the Austrian sculptor Franz West. In 2002 it moved to 525 West 19th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York. Phillips, formerly known as Phillips the Auctioneers (briefly as Phillips de Pury), is a British auction house. It was founded in London in 1796, and has head offices in London and in New York City. It was owned by the Mercury Group, a Russian luxury goods company. History Phillips was founded in 1796 by Harry Phillips, who had been a clerk to James Christie. The business held twelve auctions in its first year and soon became successful. Napoleon and Beau Brummel were among the early patrons.
