People From Landskrona Municipality
A person ( : people) is a being that has certain capacities or attributes such as reason, morality, consciousness or self-consciousness, and being a part of a culturally established form of social relations such as kinship, ownership of property, or legal responsibility. The defining features of personhood and, consequently, what makes a person count as a person, differ widely among cultures and contexts. In addition to the question of personhood, of what makes a being count as a person to begin with, there are further questions about personal identity and self: both about what makes any particular person that particular person instead of another, and about what makes a person at one time the same person as they were or will be at another time despite any intervening changes. The plural form "people" is often used to refer to an entire nation or ethnic group (as in "a people"), and this was the original meaning of the word; it subsequently acquired its use as a plural form of per ...

The New Land
''The New Land'' ( sv, Nybyggarna) is a 1972 Swedish film directed and co-written by Jan Troell and starring Max von Sydow, Liv Ullmann, Eddie Axberg, Allan Edwall, Monica Zetterlund, and Pierre Lindstedt. It and its 1971 predecessor, ''The Emigrants'' (''Utvandrarna''), which were produced concurrently, are based on Vilhelm Moberg's ''The Emigrants'', a series of novels about poor Swedes who emigrate from Småland, Sweden, in the mid-19th century and make their home in Minnesota. This film adapts the latter half of the four novels (''The Settlers'' (1956) and '' The Last Letter Home'' (1959)), which depict the struggles of the immigrants to establish a settlement in the wilderness and adjust to life in America. Like ''The Emigrants'', ''The New Land'' was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The 1974 American television series '' The New Land'' is loosely based on ''The Emigrants'' and this film. Plot In 1850, Karl Oskar, his wife Kristina, and thei ...

Fanny Hill
''Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure''—popularly known as ''Fanny Hill''—is an erotic novel by English novelist John Cleland first published in London in 1748. Written while the author was in debtors' prison in London,Wagner, "Introduction", in Cleland, ''Fanny Hill'', 1985, p. 7. it is considered "the first original English prose pornography, and the first pornography to use the form of the novel". It is one of the most prosecuted and banned books in history. The book exemplifies the use of euphemism. The text has no "dirty words" or explicit scientific terms for body parts, but uses many literary devices to describe genitalia. For example, the vagina is sometimes referred to as "the nethermouth", which is also an example of psychological displacement. A critical edition by Peter Sabor includes a bibliography and explanatory notes. The collection ''Launching "Fanny Hill"'' contains several essays on the historical, social and economic themes underlying the novel. Publi ...

The Virgin Spring
''The Virgin Spring'' ( sv, Jungfrukällan) is a 1960 Swedish rape and revenge film directed by Ingmar Bergman. Set in medieval Sweden, it is a tale about a father's merciless response to the rape and murder of his young daughter. The story was adapted by screenwriter Ulla Isaksson from a 13th-century Swedish ballad, " Töres döttrar i Wänge" ("Töre's daughters in Vänge"). Bergman researched the legend of Per Töre with an eye to an adaptation, considering an opera before deciding on a film version. Given criticism of the historical accuracy of his 1957 film ''The Seventh Seal'', he also invited Isaksson to write the screenplay. Other influences included the 1950 Japanese film ''Rashomon''. Max von Sydow played Töre. Isaksson and Bergman explored a number of themes in ''The Virgin Spring'', questioning morals, vengeance, and religious beliefs. The rape scene was also subject to censorship in screenings in the United States. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign L ...

The Magician (1958 Film)
''Ansiktet'' ( Swedish: "The Face"), also released as ''The Magician'', is a 1958 Swedish film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman, starring Max von Sydow and Ingrid Thulin. The plot follows a traveling magician named Albert Vogler, whose allegedly supernatural live shows are challenged by the skeptical population of a small village. Blending elements of psychological drama and horror, the film was distantly inspired by G. K. Chesterton's play ''Magic'', which Bergman numbered among his favourites. At one time, Bergman staged a theatre production of ''Magic'' in Swedish. The film was selected as the Swedish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 31st Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. Plot Albert Vogler is a magician who leads a troupe of performers, known as Vogler's Magnetic Health Theater, who claim to possess supernatural abilities. Among them are Albert's grandmother, Granny Vogler; his wife Manda, who performs in costume as a man under the ...
