Serie D
The Serie D () is the top level of semi-professional football in the country. The fourth tier of the Italian league system, the competition sits beneath the third professional league, Serie C. It is administered by the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti and is organized by the Roman ''Comitato Interregionale'' (Interregional Committee), a "league in the league" inside the LND. It is not a universal system, but is used in some countries, including Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. It was formerly commonplace in Italy, though the practice has now been abolished there. This type of deal differs from third-party ownership, in that in the latter, the player's contract is owned by a non-footballing entity, such as a management company. For a co-ownership to be set, a player needed to be signed to a team and have at least two years left in their contract. It worked as a regular tr ...
