Os Cascavelletes (EP)
''Os Cascavelletes'' is the eponymous debut Extended play, EP by Brazilian Rock music, rock band Os Cascavelletes, self-released in 1988. The EP contains six tracks; three ("Menstruada", "Morte por Tesão" and "Ugagogobabagô") were re-recorded from their 1987 Demo (music), demo tape ''Vórtex Demo'', while the remaining were new compositions. "Estou Amando uma Mulher" became a major hit in radios of the time after extensive airplay, while "Menstruada" was forbidden to play in radios because of its sexually explicit content. Bassist Frank Jorge parted ways with the band soon after the EP's release to focus on his alternate project Graforreia Xilarmônica. Live bonus track "Jessica Rose" would be re-recorded for the band's subsequent release, ''Rock'a'ula''. "Estou Amando uma Mulher" and "Morte por Tesão" were also included in SBK Records' compilation ''Rio Grande do Rock'', released shortly afterwards the EP. Os Cascavelletes
Os Cascavelletes were a Brazilian Rock music, rock group from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. One of the first rock bands from Rio Grande do Sul to acquire mainstream success nationwide alongside its "sister project" TNT (Brazilian band), TNT, they were characterized by their irreverent style inspired by 1950s-era rockabilly culture and acts such as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, and by their comical, profanity- and sex-laden lyrics (in a musical style self-described as "Pornography, porno rock"). Some of their most famous compositions are "Sob um Céu de Blues", "Menstruada", "Estou Amando uma Mulher", "Eu Quis Comer Você" and the 1989 hit "Nêga Bombom". Airplay is how frequently a song is being played through broadcasting on radio stations. A song which is being played several times every day (spins) would have a significant amount of airplay. Nei Van Soria
Nei Van Soria (born October 5, 1969) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, pianist, guitarist and record producer, famous for his work with pioneering Rio Grande do Sul rock bands TNT and Os Cascavelletes. Biography Van Soria was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul on October 5, 1969. His first musical ventures were with rock band TNT, founded in 1984 by childhood friends Flávio Basso, Charles Master, Márcio Petracco ,and Felipe Jotz. In 1985 TNT took part in the critically acclaimed compilation '' Rock Grande do Sul'', released by RCA Records; however, Basso and Van Soria were unhappy with RCA, citing numerous creative divergences between them and the label, and so they left TNT to form their own project, Os Cascavelletes, in 1987. Van Soria began his solo career shortly after Os Cascavelletes broke up, in 1992. Jupiter Apple
Flávio Basso (26 January 1968 – 21 December 2015), better known by his stage name Júpiter Maçã and by its English-language variation Jupiter Apple, was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and filmmaker. Before beginning a solo career in 1994, he was already known for being a founding member of bands TNT and Os Cascavelletes, both pioneers of the Rio Grande do Sul rock scene in the mid-to-late 1980s/early 1990s. SBK Records
SBK Records was a record label, owned by Universal Music Group, that was currently part of the Capitol Music Group, where it is in hibernation. The label was founded in 1988 and during its time in activity existed as part of the EMI Group. History Stephen Swid, Martin Bandier and Charles Koppelman formed SBK Entertainment in 1989 after they purchased the music publishing division of CBS Records, CBS Songs, in 1986 for $125 million. CBS Songs was subsequently renamed to SBK Songs. The name is an acronym incorporating the first letter of the founders' surnames. The partners sold the company to EMI Music Publishing (for a reported US$295 million), afterward SBK Songs was renamed EMI Songs and with support of Capitol Records launched SBK Records. Graforreia Xilarmônica is a Brazilian Prêmio Açorianos-winning rock group from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Famous for their humorous, unpretentious lyrics and for their sonority influenced by 1960s-era bands, the ''Jovem Guarda'' movement and traditional ''gaúcho'' music, they amassed a strong cult following throughout the 1980s and 1990s which lasts to the present day. History Graforreia Xilarmônica was founded in 1987 by Carlo Pianta, brothers Alexandre and Marcelo Birck, and Frank Jorge. Jorge Otávio Pinto Pouey de Oliveira (born September 20, 1966), better known by his stage name Frank Jorge, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, poet, Crônica, chronicler and professor, famous for his work with pioneering Rio Grande do Sul rock bands Os Cascavelletes and Graforreia Xilarmônica. Biography Jorge was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, on September 20, 1966. His father was a physician from Uruguaiana (who died when Jorge was only 2 years old), and his mother's family came from Santana do Livramento. He also has four sisters and a brother. During his travels abroad his father used to bring home many vinyl records, and his mother was very fond of literature, and on his later life Jorge would be very influenced by both aspects, to the point of graduating in Literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, PUC-RS in 1992.
