Orzhiv
Orzhiv ( uk, Оржів) is an urban-type settlement in Rivne Raion (raion, district) of Rivne Oblast (oblast, province) in western Ukraine. Its population was 4,230 as of the Ukrainian Census (2001), 2001 Ukrainian Census. Current population: History Orzhiv was first founded in the beginning of the 16th century, and it acquired the status of an urban-type settlement in 1959. Geography The town is 20 km northwest of Rivne, 61 km east of Lutsk. It counts a railway station on the Rivne-Kovel line, and is also the eastern terminus of the "Tunnel of Love (railway), Tunnel of Love", an amusement railway linking it to Klevan, surrounded by Tree tunnel, green arches. Tunnel Of Love (railway)
The Tunnel of Love ( uk, Туне́ль Коха́ння, ''Tunel Kokhannya'') is a section of industrial railway located near Klevan, Ukraine, that links it with Orzhiv. It is a railway surrounded by green arches and is three to five kilometers in length. It is known for being a favorite place for couples to take walks since trains pass thrice a day. Klevan
Klevan ( uk, Клевань; is an urban-type settlement in Rivne Raion (district) of Rivne Oblast (province) in western Ukraine. Its population was 7,470 at the 2001 Ukrainian census. Current population: History A settlement on the current territory of Klevan was first founded in the beginning of the 12th century on the banks of the Stubla River, a tributary of the Horyn. At the time, the settlement was named Kolyvan or Kolivan ( uk, Коливань). The first written mention of Klevan appeared in 1458, as a possession of the Czartoryski family. In 1654, the settlement was granted Magdeburg rights and in 1940, the town acquired the status of an urban-type settlement. As in all cities and towns of the Volhynia, Klevan had a considerable Jewish community, and a Polish guidebook from 1929 described it as a "the Jewish town with a population of 1,300 people". A tree tunnel is a road, lane or track where the trees on each side form a more or less continuous canopy overhead, giving the effect of a tunnel. The effect may be achieved in a formal avenue lined with trees or in a more rural setting with randomly placed trees on each side of the route. Kovel
Kovel (, ; pl, Kowel; yi, קאוולע / קאוולי ) is a city in Volyn Oblast (province), in northwestern Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Kovel Raion (district). Population: Kovel gives its name to one of the oldest runic inscriptions which were lost during World War II. The Kovel spearhead, unearthed near the town in 1858, contained text in Gothic. History The name Kovel comes from a Slavonic word for blacksmith hence the horseshoe on the town's coat of arms. The rune-inscribed Spearhead of Kovel was found near Kovel in 1858.
