Orvin Fjare
Orvin Benonie Fjare (April 16, 1918 – June 27, 2011) was a U.S. Representative from Montana. Born on a ranch near Big Timber, Montana to Abigael (née Hetland) and Olaf J. B. Fjare, both Norwegian immigrants. Fjare attended public schools. He was employed as a clerk in a clothing store at Big Timber, Montana, and later became part owner. Fjare enlisted as a private in the United States Army in 1940 and was commissioned a second lieutenant of Artillery in 1942. He served as a pilot in the South Pacific and was discharged as a captain in 1946. He served as member of the Montana Public Welfare Commission 1952–1954. He served as member of board of trustees of Big Timber Public Schools 1951–1954. Fjare was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-fourth Congress (January 3, 1955 – January 3, 1957). Montana () is a state in the Mountain West division of the Western United States. Montana State University (MSU) is a public land-grant research university in Bozeman, Montana. It is the state's largest university. MSU offers baccalaureate degrees in 60 fields, master's degrees in 68 fields, and doctoral degrees in 35 fields through its nine colleges. Tim Babcock
Timothy Milford Babcock (October 27, 1919 – April 7, 2015) was an American politician, the 16th Governor of the state of Montana, from 1962 to 1969. Early life Babcock was born in Littlefork, Minnesota, the son of Olive (Rinehart) and Erwin Babcock. He later moved to Glendive, Montana and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1939. He married Betty Lee on September 21, 1941, and they had two children. After graduating from Dawson County High School in 1939, he worked at a Douglas Aircraft factory in California. In 1944, he enlisted in the US Army as an infantryman, and served with the 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division in the European Theater during World War II. He fought at Elsenborn Ridge, part of the Battle of the Bulge. He later took part in the capture of the Remagen Bridge, where he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for valor. The 1960 United States Senate election in Montana took place on November 8, 1960. Incumbent United States Senator James E. Murray, who was first elected to the Senate in a special election in 1934 and was re-elected in 1936, 1942, and 1948, and 1954, declined to seek re-election, creating an open seat.
