Orsolya Herr
Orsolya Herr (born 23 November 1984) is a former Hungarian handball goalkeeper. Career Club Started to play at the age of 12, she was first selected for her hometown club Tatabányai TSC. Two years later she was signed by Hungarian giants Győri ETO KC and got an excellent opportunity to train on one of the best academies in the country. She debuted in the Hungarian championship in 2001, but her playing minutes remained limited in the forthcoming years and she was eventually loaned to Budapest Kőbányai Spartacus SC for the 2003–2004 season. After her comeback she slowly established herself as a regular, and on 23 March 2005 she won her first cap for the national team as well, when Hungary hosted Slovakia. Her contract in Győr ran out in summer 2009 and she decided not to extend it. She joined Podravka Koprivnica instead, as a replacement of Paula Ungureanu, who signed to CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea. Paula Ungureanu
Paula-Claudia Ungureanu (née Rădulescu; born 30 March 1980) is a Romanian handballer who plays for Rapid București. She retired from the Romania national team in 2016. Ungureanu successfully replaced Luminița Dinu after her retirement. Shortly after taking these positions she became known for a high percentage of saves in games and for managing difficult saves in key points of games. Paula Ungureanu ranked fourth on the Top Goalkeepers list of the 2009 World Women's Handball Championship with a 41% save rate. In the 2014 European Championship, she ranked second after Silje Solberg on the Top Goalkeepers list with a 40% save rate. Nemzeti Bajnokság I (Women's Handball)
The Nemzeti Bajnokság (, "National Championship"), also known as NB I, is the top level of the Hungarian football league system. The league is officially named OTP Bank Liga after its title sponsor OTP Bank. UEFA currently ranks the league 28th in Europe. Twelve teams compete in the league, playing each other three times, once at home, once away, and the third match is played at the stadium that the last match was not played at. At the end of the season, the top team enters the qualification for the UEFA Champions League, while the runner-up and the third place, together with the winner of the Magyar Kupa enter the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification rounds. Handball At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's handball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics is being held from August 9 to August 23, at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium and National Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Twelve nations are represented in the women's tournament. The four best teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinal round, 5th and 6th teams in each group are classified 9th-12th by the results of their group matches. The losers of quarterfinal matches will compete in the 5th-8th classification matches by the same elimination system as the winners of the quarterfinals. World Women's Handball Championship
The IHF Women's Handball World Championship has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1957. European teams have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winners are Russia and Norway with four titles each. Nine teams participated in the first championship, this number has grown in steps to 32 (from 2021). In 1977 a B-tournament was introduced and later in 1986 a C-tournament which served as qualification for the real championship or A-tournament. The B- and C-tournament qualifications were replaced by the present qualification system based on continental confederations in 1993. From 1993 it has been held every other year. Katalin Pálinger (born 6 December 1978) is a former Hungarian handball goalkeeper who most notably played for Győri Audi ETO KC. Career She made her international debut on 22 August 1997 against Romania, and participated in her first World Women's Handball Championship, World Championship in that year, however, she finished with the national team only on the disappointing ninth place. One year later, on the 1998 European Women's Handball Championship, 1998 European Championship Hungary performed slightly better and captured a bronze medal, followed by a gold on the next continental event. Bernadett Bódi (born 9 March 1986) is a Hungarian handballer. She made her international debut on 2 March 2005 against Denmark. Szilvia Ábrahám
Szilvia Ábrahám (born 1 August 1983 in Budapest) is a retired Hungarian handballer who played for the Hungarian national team. Career Ábrahám had swum competitively for years, when at the age of 12 her form master and later her coach, Tibor Radványi invited her for a training of Ferencvárosi TC. She fell in love with handball immediately, but at first she found it very hard to quit swimming completely and practiced both sports parallelly for a year, before deciding to concentrate fully on handball. For the age of 13 she was already a signed player of Ferencváros, with them she spent four seasons, playing in the youth team. She moved to Budapesti Spartacus SC in 2000 and made her debut in the Hungarian top flight yet in that year. Zdravko Zovko
Zdravko Zovko (born 28 May 1955) is a retired Croatian handball player. Career Zovko spent his entire playing career in RK Medveščak from Zagreb and in Syracuse, Sicily, for C.C. Ortigia. He won three Yugoslav Cups with the club and during his last season at the club got to the semi-finals of the EHF Cup Winners' Cup. In Italy he won three italian championship in a row. Zovko competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics, representing Yugoslavia. He played in six matches and contributed with five goals to win the gold medal. Apart for winning the Olympic gold Zovko won a silver and bronze medal for Yugoslavia at the 1982 & 1974 World Championships. As a manager he has coached RK Zagreb, KC Veszprém and RK Podravka, before joining Zvezda Zvenigorod in May 2011.
