Giordano Orsini (died 1438)
Giordano Orsini (1360/70 — 29 May 1438) was an Italian cardinal who enjoyed an extensive career in the early fifteenth century. He was a member of the powerful Roman family of the Orsini. Biography Orsini was Archbishop of Naples from 1400 until 1405, when he was made a Cardinal by Innocent VII. In 1408 he abandoned the "Roman Obedience" and attended the Council of Pisa. He was subsequently administrator of the see of Pécs 1409–10, and legate of Antipope John XXIII in Spain, Picenum and Bologna. Promoted to the suburbicarian see of Albano in 1412, he had a considerable role in the Council of Constance, where he presided over the fifth session. He was the papal legate appointed to establish peace between England and France in 1418. He became part of the Grand penitentiary in 1419. Paolo Giordano II Orsini (1591–1656) was an Italian nobleman, Patron of arts, poet, and amateur painter. Biography He grew in Florence, where he attended the Medici court. On the death of his father Virginio Orsini in 1615, he inherited the dukedom of Bracciano. In Rome in 1622 he became the second husband of the widowed Isabella Appiani (ca. 1630–1635), the last survivor of the Appiani family He was also made a prince of the Holy Roman Empire by Ferdinand II on 18 July 1623. Paolo Giordano I Orsini
Paolo Giordano Orsini (1541 – 13 November 1585) was an Italian nobleman, and the first duke of Bracciano from 1560. He was a member of the Roman family of the Orsini. Biography The son of Girolamo Orsini and Francesca Sforza, he was grandson, on his father's side, of Felice della Rovere (illegitimate daughter of Pope Julius II) and Gian Giordano Orsini and, on his mother's side, of Count Bosio Sforza and Costanza Farnese, an illegitimate daughter of Pope Paul III. On 3 September 1558 he married Isabella de' Medici, daughter of Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, at Poggio a Caiano. Paolo Orsini (1450-1503)
Paolo Orsini (1450 – 18 January 1503) was an Italian condottiero in the service of the Papal States, Ferdinand of Aragon and the Republic of Florence. He was marquess of Atripalda and lord of Mentana, Palombara Sabina and Selci. Life An illegitimate son of cardinal Latino Orsini, who belonged to the Duchy of Bracciano branch, his mother's name is unknown. The cardinal legitimised him to safeguard the family inheritance. He commanded the papal guards in 1485 when he and his cousin Virginio tried to take over Rome, but Paolo had all his goods confiscated as a result in 1496. Paolo Orsini (1369-1416)
Paolo Orsini (1369 – 5 August 1416) was an Italian condottiero and lord of Canino, Fiano Romano, Gallese, Olevano Romano, Orvieto, Marta, Montalto di Castro, Narni and Tuscania. He belonged to the Orsini family. He married Rita Sanguigni and with her had two children , Giampaolo and Calvinia, on whom little evidence survives. Napoleone Orsini (condottiero)
Napoleone Orsini (c. 1420 – September 1480) was an Italian condottiero. The son of Orso Orsini of Bracciano, he fought for Pope Eugene IV against Francesco Sforza in 1443. Later, in the 1450s, he flanked Ferdinand of Aragon in the struggle between the Kingdom of Naples and the Duchy of Milan. Matteo Orsini
Matteo Orsini (died probably on 18 August 1340) was an Italian Dominican friar and Cardinal. He was the nephew of Cardinal Francesco Napoleone Orsini (1295–1312), who was himself the nephew of Pope Nicholas III (Giovanni Gaetano Orsini). His early studies were at Bologna, where he studied law and took the Baccalaureate. He was Canon of the Church of S. Etienne in Châlons sur Saône. He entered the Dominican Order at the Convent of S. Jacques in Paris, around 1294, and completed the full course of theology. He returned to Italy, but the Provincial of the Roman Province sent him back to Paris in 1306, where he obtained the Degree of Master. He taught biblical studies at Paris, Florence, and Rome. Latino Malabranca Orsini (b. at Rome, year unknown – d. 10 August 1294, Perugia) was a Roman noble, an Italian cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, and nephew of Pope Nicholas III. John II Orsini, also John Komnenos Doukas or Comnenus Ducas (Greek: Ἰωάννης Κομνηνός Δούκας, ''Iōannēs Komnēnos Doukas'', Italian: Giovanni II Orsini), was count palatine of Cephalonia from 1323 to 1324 and Despot of Epirus from 1323 to 1335. Giovanni Gaetano Orsini (''ca.'' 1285 - 27 August 1335), Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church from 17 December 1316 until his death, was a Roman nobleman, a nephew of Pope Nicholas III and a grandson of Matteo Rosso Orsini. He was sometimes recorded under the names Gian Gaetano Orsini and Giangaetano Orsini. In 1326 the Avignon Pope John XXII sent him as his Legate ''a latere'' to Italy, then much troubled by civil wars, with the task of bringing peace. In the event, Orsini found himself embroiled in battles with the Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria and his antipope Nicholas V.
