Ormiston (District Electoral Area)
Ormiston has been one of the ten district electoral areas (DEA) in Belfast, Northern Ireland since 2014. Located in the east of the city, the district elects seven members to Belfast City Council and contains the wards of Belmont, Garnerville, Gilnahirk, Sandown, Shandon, Knock and Stormont. Ormiston, along with wards from the neighbouring Titanic and Lisnasharragh DEAs, together with parts of Lisburn and Castlereagh District Council, form the Belfast East constituency for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament. The district was created for the 2014 local elections, replacing the Victoria District Electoral Area, which had existed since 1985. Belfast City Council ( ga, Comhairle Cathrach Bhéal Feirste) is the local authority with responsibility for part of the city of Belfast, the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. The Council serves an estimated population of (), the largest of any district council in Northern Ireland, while being the smallest by area. Belfast City Council is the primary council of the Belfast Metropolitan Area, a grouping of six former district councils with commuter towns and overspill from Belfast, containing a total population of 579,276. Peter McReynolds
Peter McReynolds (born 21 March 1987) is a Northern Irish politician who is an Alliance Party Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). He was elected as an MLA in the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly election for Belfast East. Early life and education Peter McReynolds was born in Belfast 1987, the son of Leonard and Helen McReynolds. He attended St Malachy's College, followed by Queen's University Belfast. He graduated with a BA in French and Linguistics in 2009, and gained an LLM in Human Rights Law in 2012. Political career Early career (2014-2022) McReynolds ran for election to the Oldpark DEA in Belfast City Council in the 2014 local elections as an Alliance Party candidate, but was unsuccessful and eliminated at the fifth stage. The Green Party Northern Ireland (sometimes abbreviated as Green Party NI) is a political party in Northern Ireland. Belfast East (, Ulster Scots: ''Bilfawst East'') is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Assembly, 1973.
