Ormesby is an area which is split between Borough of Middlesbrough and Borough of Redcar and Cleveland in North Yorkshire, England. It is in the Middlesbrough part of the Teesside built up area. Spencer Beck to the east and the B1380 road to the south form the boundary of Redcar and Cleveland with Middlesbrough's borough. The Ormesby ward, including Overfields and Ormesby Hall, had a population of 5,942 at the 2011 census. The Park End and Beckfield ward, which also includes Priestfields and Netherfields, is the area of Ormesby in borough of Middlesbrough. History Ormesby manor and church are recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as the property of 'Orme', to whose name the suffix (derived from a Viking word for habitation or dwelling place) was added to make Ormesby. Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. It is the namesake and main town of its local borough council area. Until the early 1800s, the area was rural farming land. By 1830, a new industrial town and port started to be developed, driven by the coal and later ironworks. Steel production and ship building began in the late 1800s, remaining associated with the town until post-industrial decline occurred in the late twentieth century. Ormesby Hall
Ormesby Hall, a Grade I listed building, is a predominantly 18th-century mansion house built in the Palladian style and completed in 1754. It is situated in Ormesby, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire in the north-east of England. The home of the Pennyman family, originally dating from c.1600, the property has been much modernised. Now described as a "classic Georgian mansion", it comprises a main residential block and an adjacent stable block. The stable block housed the horses of Cleveland Police Mounted Section until their disbandment in December 2013. The Pennyman family, which began acquiring land in Ormesby in the 16th century, bought the Manor of Ormesby in about 1600 from the Conyers/Strangeways family. The Pennyman family then acquired a Baronetcy granted by Charles II for fighting on the side of the royalists in the English Civil War. Netherfields
Netherfields is an area in the Park End and Beckfield ward of the Borough of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It forms the north-east side of the Ormesby. The area includes Outwood Academy Ormesby, Priory Woods (School and Arts College), and Pennyman Primary Academy. Fulbeck Road is the main road through the area. Housing Erimus Housing is the main housing provider, managing the social housing which in the past was owned by Middlesbrough Council. The housing stock has gone through several stages in the evolution of netherfields. Most housing is traditional, 1960s terraced houses, but there have also been rows of flats with communal stairways, demolished in the 1980s, and several blocks of high-rise flats. Park End is an area in the borough of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It is near Berwick Hills and Ormesby. It is in the TS3 postcode district. The population of the Park End ward, at the 2011 Census, was 6,254. In May 2015 the ward boundaries changed, the new Park End and Beckfield ward replacing the old ward in name. The ward is in the Middlesbrough constituency, the former ward was in the Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland constituency. Schools There are two primary schools in Park End.
