Orleans-Caledonia-1 Vermont Representative District, 2002–2012
The Orleans-Caledonia-1 Representative District is a two-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Orleans-Caledonia-1 District includes all of the Orleans County towns of Albany, Barton, Craftsbury, Glover, and Greensboro, and the Caledonia County towns of Sheffield and Wheelock. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). Glover, Vermont
Glover is a town in Orleans County, Vermont, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the town's population was 1,114. It contains two unincorporated villages, Glover and West Glover. The town is named for Brigadier General John Glover, who served in the American Revolutionary War. He was the prime proprietor of the town. Glover is home to three museums: the Bread & Puppet Museum, the Glover Historical Society museum, and The Museum of Everyday Life. Sheffield is a town in Caledonia County, Vermont, United States. The population was 682 at the 2020 census. Geography Sheffield is located in northwestern Caledonia County. It is bordered by the town of Barton to the north, Sutton to the east, Wheelock to the south, and Glover to the west. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and , or 0.79%, is water. The town is crossed by Interstate 91, leading north to Newport and south to St. Johnsbury. There are no exits within the town. Caledonia County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,233. Its shire town (county seat) is the town of St. Johnsbury. The county was created in 1792 and organized in 1796. It was given the Latin name for Scotland, in honor of the many settlers who claimed ancestry there. History The county shares the same pre-Columbian history with the Northeast Kingdom.
