Oriental Theological Seminary
Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS) is a Baptist theological institute in Bade, Chümoukedima District, Nagaland. It was founded in 1991 by Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC). Wati Aier was the first Principal of the institution. In September 2017, Dr. Joshua Lorin took the reins as the Principal from Aier. Courses offered by the institution are Master of Divinity and Master of Theology. Foundation At its inception, the NBCC gave Dr. Wati Aier the responsibility to start and build the institution from scratch. Bade village donated the land for the seminary. Aier along with his wife, Alongla Aier, began with clearing the forested area. Thereafter, they began with setting thatched roof classrooms. Wati Aier cooked for the students, joined them for weekly football matches, and played the trumpet in the seminary choir. He also wrote and composed several songs for the OTS choir. The Nagaland Baptist Church Council is a Baptist Christian organization based in Nagaland, India. It is affiliated with the Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India and the Baptist World Alliance. The headquarters is located in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. Wati Aier
Wati Aier (born 1948) is a Naga theologian. He is the Convenor of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, and a former Vice President of the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation. Early Ministry On Aier's ministry, Chongpongmeren Jamir writes that he was the first Naga theologian to "clearly expound the need for socio-political engagement of the church" in society. In his 1989 book, ''A Cry from the Rice Fields: A call of freedom for the Nagas'', Aier wrote,"The Church must witness with more than words.
