Oriane Bertone
Oriane Bertone (born March 10, 2005 in Nice) is a French rock climber, who specializes in competition climbing, but is also noted for her sport climbing and her bouldering. Climbing career Rock climbing In 2018, when she was 12 years old, Bertone became the youngest climber to send a graded boulder problem when she solved ''Golden Shadow'' in Rocklands (South Africa). In 2020, aged 14, she redpointed the sport climbing route, ''Panonoramix et les cyclopes'', in Saint Léger at grade . Competition climbing In 2019, she started competing in international youth competition climbing events where she won multiple gold medals in both competition lead climbing and competition bouldering. In April 2021, Bertone made her senior International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) competition debut at age 16 at the Boulder World Cup in Meiringen, where she advanced to the final and placed second. Competition Climbing
A climbing competition (or comp) is usually held indoors on purpose built climbing walls. There are three main types of climbing competition: lead, speed, and bouldering. In lead climbing, the competitors start at the bottom of a route and must climb it within a certain time frame in a single attempt, making sure to clip the rope into pre-placed quickdraws along the route. Bouldering competitions consist of climbing short problems without rope, with the emphasis on number of problems completed and the attempts necessary to do so. Speed climbing can either be an individual or team event, with the person or team that can climb a standardized route the fastest winning. The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) organizes some of the most important international sport climbing competitions, including the Climbing World Championships and the Climbing World Cup. International Federation Of Sport Climbing
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is the international governing body for the sport of competitive climbing, which consists of the disciplines lead climbing, speed climbing, and bouldering. It was founded in Frankfurt on 27 January 2007 by 48 member federations, and is a continuation of the International Council for Competition Climbing, which had been in existence from 1997 to 2007 and was a part of the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA). Due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the IFSC suspended the Russian and Belarusian federations, and cancelled all events in Russia in 2022.
