Grupo Globo ( en, Globo Group), formerly known as Organizações Globo ( en, Globo Organization), is a Brazilian private mass media conglomerate based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Founded in 1925 by Irineu Marinho, it is the largest media group in Latin America, and one of the world's largest media conglomerates. Grupo Globo's assets comprises over-the-air broadcasting, television and film production, pay television subscription service, streaming media, publishing, and online services. Its main properties include the flagship television network TV Globo; pay television content unit Canais Globo, consisting of cable television networks such as GloboNews, GNT, Multishow, SporTV, Viva, Gloob, and the premium film network Telecine; film production company Globo Filmes; radio operator Sistema Globo de Rádio; magazine and newspaper publishers, Editora Globo and Infoglobo; and the streaming service Globoplay. Global Media Group (formerly Controlinveste) is a Portuguese Mass media, media holding company founded by Portuguese sports Business magnate, mogul and FC Porto Sociedade Anónima Desportiva, S.A.D.'s shareholder Joaquim Oliveira. History and profile Controlinveste was founded in 2005 after the amalgamation of Lusomundo Media and Olivedesportos. In 2013, Controlinveste was sold partly inter alia to Angolan investor António Mosquito Mbakassi (27.5%), representing a group of investors from Angola. The other parts were sold to Luís Montez (15%), Banco Comercial Português (15%) and Banco Espírito Santo (15%). Founder and owner Joaquim Oliveira keeps the remaining 27.5%. The deal included all of its print media and a radio station, which are ''Diário de Notícias'', ''Jornal de Notícias'', ''O Jogo'', ''Açoriano Oriental'' and TSF (radio station), TSF, focusing uniquely on its major asset, Sport TV.
