Orest Banach (born March 31, 1948; also known as Orri Banach) is an American retired soccer goalkeeper (football), goalkeeper of Ukraine, Ukrainian descent who played three seasons in the North American Soccer League (1968–1984), North American Soccer League and earned four cap (sports), caps with the United States men's national soccer team, U.S. national team. Orest Meleschuk
Orest B. "The Big O" Meleschuk (born April 11, 1940) is a Canadian former curler of Ukrainian descent. He was one of Manitoba's best curlers during the 1960s and 1970s and has won a number of championships and major bonspiels. His greatest curling triumph came in 1972 when he won the Manitoba, Canadian and World Championships of curling. Meleschuk married Patrica Frances McSherry and they have two children, Sean and Karin. Meleschuk was involved in the first Battle of the Sexes curling match, in which he lost to Vera Pezer's team. Orest Zerebko (September 15, 1887 – February 21, 1943) was a Galician-born journalist and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Redberry from 1938 to 1943 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Horodenka, Austria-Hungary, the son of Elias Zerebko, of Ukrainian descent, and came to Canada in 1900. Orest Mikhailovich Somov (; – ) was a Russian romantic writer. He studied at Kharkiv University, where he became an admirer of Romantic literature and Gothic fiction. In 1817 he moved to Saint Petersburg where he continued his literary career. In addition to being a writer and translator, he established himself as a critic, editor and publisher, thus becoming one of the first professional men of letters in the Russian Empire. Somov was drawn to the folklore of his native Ukraine and much of his writing refers to Ukrainian history and folklore. Somov was a popular writer during his lifetime. Orest Onofrei (born 17 March 1957 in Marginea, Suceava County, Romania) is a Romanian veterinarian and politician. A member of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), he represented Suceava County in the Chamber of Deputies from December 2004 to February 2005, and has been a Senator for the same county since December 2008. Orest Ivanovych Levytsky (; – 9 May 1922) was a Ukrainian historian, ethnographer, and writer. He was a member of Kiev Hromada (Hromada), an editor of '' Kievan Past'', and a Russian language philologist. Biography Born near Poltava, in Mayachka village, into the family of a priest, Levytsky graduated from the Poltava Divinity School and Seminary in 1869. In 1869-1870 he worked as a private teacher in the village Vepryk (near Hadiach). As the best student, Levytsky was referred to be studied at a theological academy but unexpectedly enrolled into the Law faculty of Kiev University.
