Orest “Orri” Banach ( ua, Орест (Оррі) Банах) is a retired German-American soccer goalkeeper of Ukrainian descent who played three seasons in the North American Soccer League and earned four caps with the U.S. national team. Youth While born in Germany, Banach grew up in the United States. He graduated from East Leyden High School of Franklin Park, Illinois in 1965. Club Banach played for the Ukrainian Lions of the National Soccer League of Chicago. In 1966, he moved to Toronto Roma of the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League. In 1967, he played in the American Soccer League with the Rochester Lancers. After he return to the Ukrainian Lions. Orest Meleschuk
Orest B. "The Big O" Meleschuk (born April 11, 1940) is a Canadian former curler of Ukrainian descent. He was one of Manitoba's best curlers during the 1960s and 1970s and has won a number of championships and major bonspiels. His greatest curling triumph came in 1972 when he won the Manitoba, Canadian and World Championships of curling. Meleschuk married Patrica Frances McSherry and they have two children, Sean and Karin. Meleschuk was involved in the first Battle of the Sexes curling match, in which he lost to Vera Pezer's team. Orest Zerebko
Orest Zerebko (September 15, 1887 – February 21, 1943) was a Galician-born journalist and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Redberry from 1938 to 1943 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Horodenka, Austria-Hungary, the son of Elias Zerebko, of Ukrainian descent, and came to Canada in 1900. In 1913, Zerebko received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba, becoming the first person of Ukrainian descent to graduate from a Canadian university. Orest Tereshchuk
Orest Tereshchuk (born 18 August 1981) is a former professional tennis player from Ukraine. Career Tereshchuk began playing Davis Cup tennis for the Ukrainian national team in 1999. His last appearance in 2007 was his 18th tie for Ukraine, leveling Andrei Medvedev's record. He finished with a 22/10 career record, second only to Medvedev. On the ATP Tour he made doubles appearances in the 2006 Kremlin Cup (partnering Alexey Kedryuk) and the 2007 St. Petersburg Open (partnering Sergiy Stakhovsky) but was unable to progress past the opening round in either. He was however highly successful on the ATP Challenger circuit, winning 11 doubles titles. As a singles player, he had the best win of his career in a Challenger tournament at Dnipropetrovsk in 2003, when he defeated Karol Beck, then ranked 66th in the world. Orest Mikhailovich Somov (Russian and uk, Орест Михайлович Сомов, romanized Ukrainian standard: ''Orest Mykhailovych Somov/Somiv'') ( – ) was a Russian romantic writer of Ukrainian origin. He studied at Kharkiv University, where he became an admirer of Romantic literature and Gothic fiction. In 1817 he moved to Saint Petersburg where he continued his literary career. Orest Onofrei (born 17 March 1957 in Marginea, Suceava County, Romania) is a Romanian veterinarian and politician. A member of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), he represented Suceava County in the Chamber of Deputies from December 2004 to February 2005, and has been a Senator for the same county since December 2008. Orest Ivanovych Levytsky ( uk, О́рест Іва́нович Леви́цький; – 9 May 1922) was a Ukrainian historian, ethnographer, and writer. He was a member of Kiev Hromada ( Hromada), an editor of ''Kievan Past'' and a Russian language philologist. Biography Born near Poltava, in Mayachka village, into the family of a priest, Levytsky graduated the Poltava Divinity School and Seminary in 1869.
