Oregon's 7th Senate District
District 7 of the Oregon State Senate comprises parts of northern Lane County in the Eugene metropolitan area. It is composed of Oregon House districts 13 and 14. It is currently represented by Democrat James Manning Jr. of Eugene. Election results District boundaries have changed over time. Therefore, senators before 2021 may not represent the same constituency as today. Oregon () is a U.S. state, state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary with Washington (state), Washington, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary with Idaho. Shirley Gold
Shirley Gold (October 2, 1925 – February 27, 1998) was an American politician who served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1981 to 1989. She did not run for re-election in 1988, but instead ran for the Oregon State Senate, where she would serve from 1989 to 1997. She was succeeded in the House by fellow Democrat Bev Stein. In 1995, Gold was described as a "longtime advocate of child care" as the chair of the Senate Revenue Committee that sponsored two bills that intended to improve childcare workers' pay. She did not run for re-election to the Senate in 1996, and was succeeded by fellow Democrat Kate Brown, who would later become Secretary of State and then Governor of Oregon. 2022 Oregon Senate Election
The 2022 Oregon State Senate election were held in the U.S. state of Oregon on November 8, 2022, to elect 15 of the 30 members of the State Senate of the 82nd Oregon Legislature, along with one special election. A primary election was held in several districts on May 17, 2022. The election coincided with the election of the other house of the Legislative Assembly, the Oregon House of Representatives, and other elections. 2018 Oregon Legislative Election
The 2018 elections for the Oregon Legislative Assembly determined the composition of both houses for the 80th Oregon Legislative Assembly. The Republican and Democratic parties held primary elections on May 15, 2018 with general elections on November 6, 2018. As a result of the elections, the Democratic Party expanded its advantage in both houses of the state legislature. The party gained one seat in the Oregon State Senate and three seats in the Oregon House of Representatives, bringing its advantage over the Republican Party to 18-12 and 38-22, respectively. 2014 Oregon Legislative Election
The 2014 elections for the Oregon Legislative Assembly determined the composition of both houses of the state legislature for the 78th Oregon Legislative Assembly (2015–2016 term). The Republican and Democratic primary elections were held on May 20, 2014 with the general election following on November 4, 2014. The Democratic Party increased its 16-14 majority in the Senate to a supermajority of 18–12. In the House, the Democrats added one more seat and now holds a 35-25 majority. 2010 Oregon Legislative Election
The 2010 elections for the Oregon Legislative Assembly determined the composition of both houses for the 76th Oregon Legislative Assembly. The Republican and Democratic primary elections were on May 18, 2010, and the general election was held on November 2, 2010. Sixteen of the Oregon State Senate's thirty seats were up for election, as were all 60 seats of the Oregon House of Representatives. In the previous session, the Democrats held supermajorities in both chambers: 18–12 in the Senate and 36–24 in the House. Jim Torrey
Jim Torrey (born 1940) is an American politician who served as mayor of Eugene from 1997 to 2004. Torrey was nominated in 2006 for an Oregon State Senate seat, but was defeated by incumbent Vicki Walker. He then served was elected to the Eugene School Board as Representative 5 in 2007, but was defeated by Shabram Martina in 2019. Torrey was first elected to public office at the age of 21, when he won a seat on the Waldport, Oregon city council. Vicki Lynn Walker (born May 29, 1956) is an American politician. She served as the Oregon State Director for Rural Development with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
