Oregon's 4th Congressional District (since 2023)
Oregon's 4th congressional district represents the southern half of Oregon's coastal counties, including Coos County, Oregon, Coos, Curry County, Oregon, Curry, Douglas County, Oregon, Douglas, Lane County, Oregon, Lane, and Benton County, Oregon, Benton counties and most of Linn County, Oregon, Linn and Josephine County, Oregon, Josephine counties. It is centered around the state's two college towns, Eugene, Oregon, Eugene and Corvallis, Oregon, Corvallis, homes to the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, respectively. Politically, the district leans slightly Democratic, due to the presence of Lane County, home to almost half of the district's population, and similarly blue Benton County; Coos, Curry, Douglas, Josephine, and Linn lean Republican. Val Hoyle
Valerie Anne Hoyle (born February 14, 1964) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2023. Until 2023, she served as the commissioner of Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) (commonly called the "Labor Commissioner"). A Democrat, Hoyle formerly served in the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 14, which includes West Eugene, Junction City, and Cheshire. She was appointed to the House in August 2009 and reelected to full terms in 2010, 2012 and 2014. In December 2021, Hoyle announced her candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. The seat was open after incumbent Peter DeFazio decided not to run for reelection. Early life and education Hoyle was born on Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, in 1964. Medford is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. As of the 2020 United States Census on April 1, 2020, the city had a total population of 85,824 and a metropolitan area population of 223,259, making the Medford MSA the fourth largest metro area in Oregon. The city was named in 1883 by David Loring, civil engineer and right-of-way agent for the Oregon and California Railroad, after Medford, Massachusetts, which was near Loring's hometown of Concord, Massachusetts.
