Oregon's 24th Senate District
District 24 of the Oregon State Senate comprises parts of Clackamas and Multnomah counties. It is currently represented by Kayse Jama, who was appointed unanimously by the Clackamas and Multnomah County Board of Commissioners to replace Shemia Fagan who was recently elected Oregon Secretary of State. Election results District boundaries have changed over time, therefore, senators before 2013 may not represent the same constituency as today. Oregon State Senate
The Oregon State Senate is the upper house of the statewide legislature for the US state of Oregon. Along with the lower chamber Oregon House of Representatives it makes up the Oregon Legislative Assembly. There are 30 members of the state Senate, representing 30 districts across the state, each with a population of 127,700. The state Senate meets in the east wing of the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Oregon state senators serve four-year terms without term limits. In 2002, the Oregon Supreme Court struck down the decade-old Oregon Ballot Measure 3, that had restricted state senators to two terms (eight years) on procedural grounds. Clackamas County, Oregon
Clackamas County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 421,401, making it Oregon's third-most populous county. Its county seat is Oregon City. The county was named after the Native Americans living in the area, the Clackamas people, who are part of the Chinookan peoples. Clackamas County is part of the Portland-Vancouver- Hillsboro, OR- WA Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is in the Willamette Valley. Multnomah County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 815,428. Kayse Jama is an American politician currently serving as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Oregon State Senate, representing Oregon's 24th Senate district, which includes parts of Clackamas County, Oregon, Clackamas and Multnomah County, Oregon, Multnomah Counties. Shemia Fagan
Shemia Patricia Fagan (born September 20, 1981) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the Oregon secretary of state. She previously served as a Democratic member of the Oregon Senate, representing Senate District 24 from in 2019 to 2021. She also represented House District 51 from 2013 to 2017. In 2020, Fagan secured the Democratic nomination for Oregon Secretary of State in a close three-way race, and went on to defeat Republican Kim Thatcher in the general election. Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is a coastal region of the U.S. state of Oregon. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to its west and the Oregon Coast Range to the east, and stretches approximately from the California state border in the south to the Columbia River in the north. Bill Bradbury
Bill Bradbury (born May 29, 1949) is an American politician who served as a member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly and as the 23rd Oregon secretary of state from 1999 to 2009. Bradbury was an unsuccessful candidate for the 2010 Oregon gubernatorial election. In 2010, he was appointed to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski. James Bedingfield
James B. Bedingfield Jr. (October 24, 1924 – March 30, 2022) was an American lawyer and politician. Bedingfield was born in Bandon, Oregon, and grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon. He graduated from Marshfield High School, in Coos Bay in 1942. Bedingfield then served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
