Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan (, ; az, Azərbaycan ), officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, , also sometimes officially called the Azerbaijan Republic is a transcontinental country located at the boundary of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It is a part of the South Caucasus region and is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia (Republic of Dagestan) to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia and Turkey to the west, and Iran to the south. For military services medal ( az, "Hərbi xidmətlərə görə" medalı) – is a military medal of Azerbaijan. History The award was established on December 6, 1993 by the former President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. The medal is awarded to military servants for the special distinguished services in the combat operations. Description For military services medal is a shield-shaped round plate with a diameter of 35 mm, with round ornaments and rays beginning from the center and made of bronze with narrow plate with national ornaments. There is an eight-ended star and two crossing swords behind the star in the center of the shield. Rare side of the medal is flat with “For military services” ligature and the medal’s number below the ligature carved on it. The medal is attached to a brown rectangular satin ribbon of 27mmx43mm with a ring and hook. The Taraggi Medal ("Progress Medal"; az, "Tərəqqi" medalı) – is the state award of Azerbaijan Republic. The award was created by Heydar Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on December 6, 1993 by the Decree No. 758. For Heroism Medal
The "For heroism" Medal ( az, "İgidliyə görə" medalı) is a medal of Azerbaijan. Description There is an in-profile picture of a soldier with a helmet on head and a bayonet in hand against the background of an eight-pointed star. "For heroism" inscription is carved along a circle to the left side of the soldier. The inscription and picture are salient. The reverse side of the medal is flat and a number of the medal is carved in its center. The medal is attached to a thin rectangular plate, which is covered with a 27 mm X 43 mm dark and light green ribbon, with an eye ring. There is a rectangular block with national ornaments on the bottom and an element for pinning it to the chest on the reverse side of the medal. Qizil Ulduz Medal
The Qizil Ulduz Medal (Gold Star) ( az, "Qızıl Ulduz" medalı) is an award that honors a National Hero of Azerbaijan. The award was established by Abulfaz Elchibey (the former President of Azerbaijan) on March 25, 1992 (by Decree No. 201). This award is conferred for bravery and courage shown in defense of the sovereignty, the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and for the protection of its civil population. History Original form The medal was initially in the form of a gold-filled crescent facing to the right that enclosed an eight-pointed star with flat dihedral rays on the front face. National Hero Of Azerbaijan
The National Hero of Azerbaijan ( az, Azərbaycan milli qəhrəmanı) is the highest Hero (title), national title in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The title was named on 25 March 1992, and the "Qizil Ulduz" Medal awarded as a sign of receiving this title was established by a separate law in 15 July 1992. The law on the title has been in effect since 25 December 1995. It can only be awarded once to the same person. The title is awarded for outstanding services of national importance to Azerbaijan in defence and strengthening of the state system and creation of important national values.
