The Medal of the Republic () is one of the People's Republic of China's two highest decorations for Chinese nationals. On December 27, 2015, the National People's Congress Standing Committee passed a law establishing three national orders of merit: the Republic Medal, National Honorary Titles – for contributions in specific fields and industries – and the international Friendship Medal, constituted on January 1, 2016. Description The Republic Medal adopts an overall color scheme of red and gold. The ''badge'' features the National Emblem and the five-pointed star, as well as symbolic representations of the Yellow River, the Yangtze, mountain peaks, and peonies (specifically the ' 牡丹, or '' Paeonia × suffruticosa''). The president of the People's Republic of China, commonly called the president of China, is the head of state and the second-highest political office of the People's Republic of China. The presidency is constitutionally a largely ceremonial office with very limited power in China's political system. Huang Xuhua
Huang Xuhua (; born 12 March 1926) is a Chinese mechanical engineer and submarine designer, and was one of the chief designers for the country's first generation of nuclear submarines ( Type 091 and Type 092). He is director emeritus of the Wuhan-based 719 Research Institute (Nuclear Submarine Institute) of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Shen Jilan
Shen Jilan (; 29 December 1929 – 28 June 2020) was a Chinese politician affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party and former farmer. She had held numerous governance positions and was elected to the 1st National People's Congress in 1954, and had been re-elected for all the subsequent sittings of the National People's Congress over the next 65 years, the only person to have done so.
