Rise At Orangeville
Orangeville Rise is the second largest spring in the U.S. state of Indiana, in Orange County near Orangeville. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in June 1972. It is owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy and the Indiana Karst Conservancy. Geology Contrary to popular belief, the spring is not a rise of the Lost River which surfaces approximately south of Orangeville. Water emerging at Orangeville Rise comes from approximately of the highly karstified Mitchell Plain to the northeast. The spring fluctuates wildly in response to drought and rain events, with storm discharge appearing less than 24 hours following an event. Orangeville Brampton Railway
The Orangeville-Brampton Railway was a long short line railway between Orangeville and Streetsville Junction in Mississauga, Ontario. It passed through the City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon. At Streetsville, the OBRY connected with the Canadian Pacific Railway Galt Subdivision. At Brampton, it crossed the Canadian National Railway Halton Subdivision at grade, but no interchange traffic was handled. North of Brampton, the railway wound through the Niagara Escarpment, notable for a curved, long trestle over the Credit River and Forks of the Credit Road, near Belfountain in Caledon. The railway's main purpose was to service several industries in Orangeville and Brampton. However, between the fall of 2004 and spring of 2018, OBRY operated a public excursion train, marketed as Credit Valley Explorer, between Orangeville and Snelgrove (the northern edge of Brampton). Orangeville High School , now referred to as Orangeville CUSD (Community Unit School District #203), is a public School four year high school that also hosts the Junior High and the elementary school level grades for the entire school district. The building is located at 201 S. Orange St in Orangeville, Illinois, a village in Stephenson County, Illinois. The school serves students residing in the communities of Orangeville, Red Oak, Oneco, Afolkey, Buena Vista, Damascus, Buckhorn Corners, and surrounding area. In 2019, the city’s elementary school was transferred to this building to include all grades within the same complex. The building itself was built to its current state in 1948 after the original building (built in 1884) was destroyed by a fire. Orangeville District Secondary School is located at 22 Faulkner Street in Orangeville, Ontario, Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, and is the oldest secondary school in the town. Orangeville (Canada 2016 Census 28,900) is a town in south-central Ontario, Canada, and the seat of Dufferin County. History The first patent of land was issued to Ezekiel Benson, a land surveyor, on August 7, 1820. That was followed by land issued to Alan Robinet in 1822. In 1863, Orangeville was named after Orange Lawrence, a businessman born in Connecticut in 1796 who owned several mills in the village. As a young man, he moved to Canada and settled in Halton County. During Upper Canada Rebellion, Mackenzie's rebellion in 1837, he was a captain in the militia. Lawrence purchased the land that became Orangeville from Robert Hughson. He settled in the area in 1844 and established a mille. The post office dates from 1851. Orange Lawrence committed suicide December 15, 1861. In 1873, the Act of Incorporation was passed and Orangeville was given town status on January 1, 1874.
