Oracle Application Server
The Oracle Application Server 10g (the "g" stands for ''grid'') (short Oracle AS), consists of an integrated, standards-based software platform. It forms part of Oracle Corporation's Fusion Middleware technology stack. The heart of Oracle Application Server consists of Oracle HTTP Server (based on Apache HTTP Server) and OC4J (OracleAS Containers for Java EE) which deploys Java EE-based applications. The version of OC4J offers full compatibility with the Java EE 1.4 specifications. Oracle Application Server became the first platform designed for grid computing as well as with full life-cycle support for service-oriented architecture (SOA). The release of Oracle Application Server, 10g R3, does not feature a metadata repository tier, relying instead on metadata repositories provided in previous releases. Following Oracle's acquisition of BEA Systems: “key features ill beintegrated with WebLogic Server with seamless migration”. History Oracle Corporation marketed it ...

Multitier Architecture
In software engineering, multitier architecture (often referred to as ''n''-tier architecture) is a client–server architecture in which presentation, application processing and data management functions are physically separated. The most widespread use of multitier architecture is the three-tier architecture. ''N''-tier application architecture provides a model by which developers can create flexible and reusable applications. By segregating an application into tiers, developers acquire the option of modifying or adding a specific tier, instead of reworking the entire application. A three-tier architecture is typically composed of a ''presentation'' tier, a ''logic'' tier, and a ''data'' tier. While the concepts of layer and tier are often used interchangeably, one fairly common point of view is that there is indeed a difference. This view holds that a ''layer'' is a logical structuring mechanism for the conceptual elements that make up the software solution, while a ''tier'' ...

Oracle JDeveloper
JDeveloper is a freeware IDE supplied by Oracle Corporation. It offers features for development in Java, XML, SQL and PL/SQL, HTML, JavaScript, BPEL and PHP. JDeveloper covers the full development lifecycle from design through coding, debugging, optimization and profiling to deploying. With JDeveloper, Oracle has aimed to simplify application development by focusing on providing a visual and declarative approach to application development in addition to building an advanced coding-environment. Oracle JDeveloper integrates with the Oracle Application Development Framework ( Oracle ADF) - an end-to-end Java EE-based framework that further simplifies application development. The core IDE exposes an API that other teams in Oracle use to build extensions to JDeveloper. BPEL, Portal, Business Intelligence and other components of the Oracle platform all build their design-time tools on top of JDeveloper. To accommodate to Sun Microsystems (and thus NetBeans) acquisition versions re ...

TopLink
Oracle TopLink is a mapping and persistence framework for Java developers. TopLink is produced by Oracle and is a part of Oracle's OracleAS, WebLogic, and OC4J servers. It is an object-persistence and object-transformation framework. TopLink provides development tools and run-time functionalities that ease the development process and help increase functionality. Persistent object-oriented data is stored in relational databases which helps build high-performance applications. Storing data in either XML (Extensible Markup Language) or relational databases is made possible by transforming it from object-oriented data. A rich user-interface is possible on TopLink with the help of TopLink Mapping Workbench. This Mapping Workbench makes it possible to carry out the following with ease. * Graphical mapping of an object model to data model. * Generation of data model from its object model and vice versa. * Auto-mapping of any existing data models and object models. Oracle's JDeveloper ...

Oracle Forms
Oracle Forms is a software product for creating screens that interact with an Oracle database. It has an IDE that includes an object navigator, property sheet, and code editor that uses PL/SQL. It was originally developed to run server-side in character-mode terminal sessions. It was ported to other platforms, including Windows, to function in a client–server environment. Later versions were ported to Java where it runs in a Java EE container and can integrate with Java, and web services that can be launched from a URL. Recent versions provide a means to run the forms from a desktop computer without requiring a browser. The primary focus of Forms is to create data entry systems that access an Oracle database. How it works Oracle Forms accesses the Oracle database and generates a screen that presents the data. The source form (*.fmb) is compiled into a platform-specific "executable" (*.fmx), that is run (interpreted) by the forms runtime module. The form is used to view and ...

Oracle Identity Management
Oracle Identity Management, a software suite marketed by Oracle Corporation, provides identity and access management (IAM) technologies. The name of the software suite closely resembles the name of one of its components, Oracle Identity Manager. Components Sun rebranding After Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems, they re-branded a number of products that overlapped in function. (See table below.) The re-branding, and Oracle's commitment to ongoing support and maintenance of these products were revealed by Hasan Rizvi, Senior Vice President of Oracle Fusion Middleware in an Oracle and Sun Identity Management Strategy webcast in 2010. Other information Originally, in the 10g and earlier versions, the Java-based portions of the suite ran mainly on OC4J, although some components (e.g. OIM) supported other J2EE appservers. For the 11g version, Oracle Corporation ported the OC4J-based components to WebLogic. the software was undergoing Common Criteria evaluation process. I ...
