Opium Den (band)
Opium Den was an American 1990s gothic rock/ethereal wave band from Boston, Massachusetts, acclaimed for Christian Gilbert's Spanish/classical-influenced guitar playing and Annette Farrington's poetic lyrics. They also described their music as psychedelic rock and art rock. The band released three albums: ''Diary of a Drunken Sun'' (1993), ''Secret Sky'' (1994) and the posthumous ''Clandestine'' (2005). History Opium Den was formed in the early 1990s by guitarist Gilbert and drummer Mike Demma, who were looking for a singer for a psychedelic band they wanted to form. Seventeen Seconds
''Seventeen Seconds'' is the second studio album by English rock band the Cure, released on 18 April 1980 by Fiction Records. The album marked the first time frontman Robert Smith co-produced with Mike Hedges. After the departure of original bassist Michael Dempsey, Simon Gallup became an official member along with keyboardist Matthieu Hartley. The single "A Forest" was the band's first entry in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. Joy Division
Joy Division were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. Sumner and Hook formed the band after attending a June 1976 Sex Pistols concert. While Joy Division's first recordings were heavily influenced by early punk, they soon developed a sparse sound and style that made them one of the pioneers of the post-punk movement. Their self-released 1978 debut EP ''An Ideal for Living'' drew the attention of the Manchester television personality Tony Wilson, who signed them to his independent label Factory Records. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is a song by English rock band Joy Division, released in June 1980 as a non-album single. Its lyrics were inspired by lead singer Ian Curtis's marital problems and struggles with epilepsy. The single was released the month after his suicide. Collective Soul is an American rock band originally from Stockbridge, Georgia. Now based in Atlanta, the group consists of lead vocalist Ed Roland, rhythm guitarist Dean Roland, bassist Will Turpin, drummer Johnny Rabb, and lead guitarist Jesse Triplett. Formed in 1992, the original lineup consisted of the Roland brothers, Turpin, guitarist Ross Childress, and drummer Shane Evans. Collective Soul released their ''Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid'' album on the independent label Rising Storm Records in 1993. The band went from obscurity to popularity that year after the album's lead single " Shine" received regional radio play.
