Operation Sinaloa
Operation Sinaloa or Operation Culiacan - Navolato (Spanish: Operacion Sinaloa/Operacion Conjunto Sinaloa) is an ongoing anti-drug trafficking operation in the Mexican state of Sinaloa by the Federal Police and the Mexican Armed Forces. Its main objective is to cripple all cartel organizations such as the Sinaloa Cartel, Beltrán-Leyva Cartel and Los Zetas that operate in that state. The Military was deployed in response to the murder of Mexico's Federal Police commissioner Édgar Eusebio Millán Gómez. Background President Felipe Calderón's government ordered massive raids on drug cartels upon assuming office in December 2006 in response to an increasingly deadly spate of violence in his home state of Michoacán. José Rafael Ojeda Durán
José Rafael Ojeda Durán (born 3 February 1954) is the Mexican Secretary of the Navy in the Cabinet of Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He has worked in the Mexican Navy in various positions for 50 years. He is a member of the Mexican Legion of Honor. Biography José Rafael Ojeda Durán was born on 3 February 1954. Joining the Heroica Escuela Naval Militar (where he later served as a professor) in 1969, he later graduated as a Guardiamarina (Midshipman) in 1974. Édgar Eusebio Millán Gómez
Édgar Eusebio Millán Gómez (1967 – 8 May 2008) was a third-ranking member of Mexico's Secretariat of Public Security and acting commissioner of the Federal Preventive Police. Born in Mexico City, he received a law degree from the Universidad del Valle de México. After graduating he started his career in the Mexican Federal Police and received training in several countries. On 8 May 2008, at the age of 41, Commander Millán was shot to death at his Mexico City home just after arriving at midnight. He was hit eight times in the chest and once in a hand. He died a few hours later at Metropolitan Hospital. Intelligence officials said it was highly likely that he was killed in retribution for the arrest on 21 January of Alfredo Beltrán Leyva. Sergio Enrique Villarreal Barragán, a.k.a. El Grande, (b. September 21, 1969), is a Mexican former federal police officer who then worked as a lieutenant for Arturo Beltrán Leyva of the criminal organization called the Beltrán Leyva Cartel. Edgar Valdez Villarreal (born August 11, 1973), also known as La Barbie ("The Barbie"), is a Mexican-American former drug lord and high-ranking lieutenant of the now-disbanded Beltrán Leyva Cartel. Valdez is serving a 49-year prison sentence at USP Coleman II in Florida. Valdez worked for several years as a Mexican cartel lieutenant alongside nephew Fernando Valdez, before rising to a leadership position in an enforcement squad called Los Negros. Héctor Manuel Beltrán Leyva (15 February 1962 – 18 November 2018) was a Mexican drug lord and leader of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, a drug-trafficking organization. He was the brother of Arturo Beltrán Leyva (deceased), former leader of the cartel. Ignacio "Nacho" Coronel Villarreal (1 February 1954 – 29 July 2010) was a Mexican suspected drug lord and a founding member of the Sinaloa Cartel, a criminal group based in Sinaloa.
