Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar
On 18 January 2024, Pakistan launched a series of air and artillery strikes inside Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, targeting Baloch separatist groups, codenamed Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar () by Pakistan. The attack was launched in response to the Iranian missile strikes in Pakistan's Balochistan province, one day earlier. Iran said that nine foreign nationals were killed in the attack. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) confirmed that its members were among those killed. This attack marked the first known instance of a foreign country launching an attack on Iranian soil since the end of the Iran–Iraq War in 1988. 2024 Iran–Pakistan Border Skirmishes
On 16 January 2024, Iran conducted a series of missile strikes in Pakistan, asserting that it had targeted militants of the Baloch separatist group Jaish ul-Adl in the Pakistani province of Balochistan. This attack occurred one day after a similar series of Iranian missile strikes in Iraq and Syria, which the Iranian government had stated were in response to the Kerman bombings by the Islamic State on 3 January. Jaish Ul-Adl
Jaish ul-Adl, or Jaish al-Adl ( ar, جيش العدل, lit=Army of Justice; bal, جئیش الئدل), is a Salafi Islamist militant organization that operates mainly in southeastern Iran, where there is a substantial concentration of Sunni Baluchis and a porous border with Pakistan. The group is responsible for several attacks against civilians and military personnel in Iran. The group claims that it is a separatist group fighting for independence of Sistan and Baluchistan Province and greater rights for Baluch people. Iran believes that the group is linked to Al-Qaeda. Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar (; ; born 1971) is a Pakistani politician who is currently serving as the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan, in office since August 2023. He succeeded Shehbaz Sharif. Machh, or Mach ( Balochi, Brahui, ur, مچھ, Sindhi: مڄ), is a town and union council of Kachhi District in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. 2024 Saravan Killings
On 27 January 2024, nine Pakistani laborers were killed and three were critically injured in the city of Saravan in the southeastern border region of Iran.
