Open Door (2019 Film)
''Open Door'' ( sq, Derë e hapur) is a 2019 Albanian drama road film written and directed by Florenc Papas. It was selected as the Albanian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film debuted at the Sarajevo Film Festival on 19 August 2019, subsequently going on a festival tour that included Thessaloniki, Sofia, Luxembourg, Kolkata, Cartagena and a homecoming in Tirana. Plot Rudina, a married middle-aged mother, is overburdened with responsibilities. In addition to working as a seamstress in a local factory, she is taking care of her old in-laws, while her demanding husband works abroad and they only see each other once a year. She is also single-handedly raising their five year old son, Orion. Rudina is expecting her sister Elma to come back from Italy, where she lives and works, so that they can go and visit their father in their home village, on the anniversary of their mother's death. Luli Bitri
Luljeta Bitri (born June 27, 1976), better known by her stage name Luli Bitri, is an Albanian actress, voice actress, director, and producer. Early life Luli Bitri was born in Lushnjë, Albania and grew up in Tirana. She began to study medicine, but her passion for art made her to abandon medicine after the first year. Luli Bitri studied Drama in Fine Arts Academy in Tirana, Albania, gaining a Diploma in Professional Acting in 2004. Bitri starred in many short and feature films and theatre plays whilst a student there. She began her international career with the 2007 film ''Father and Godfather'', directed by Dhimitër Anagnosti, the 2009 film '' Alive!'' directed by Artan Minarolli, in 2011 film ''Amnesty'', directed by Bujar Alimani. Gulielm Radoja
Gulielm Radoja (; 2 July 19455 May 2021) was an Albanian actor from Shkodër. He acted both in theatre and in film, performing over 40 roles in the latter. Life and career Radoja was born on 2 July 1945 in Shkodër, Albania. After finishing studies in dramaturgy at the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana in 1972 he worked as a professional actor at the city theatre of Librazhd. He then worked as an actor and director at the "Bylis" Theatre in Fier and then as an actor at the "Aleksandër Moisiu" Theatre in Durrës. Among his most famous theatre interpretations are Brecht's ''A Respectable Wedding'', Böll's '' The Clown'' and Vasilis Theodoropoulos' ''Trojans''. In addition to his work in theatre, he also left a legacy in cinematography, where he interpreted in over 40 roles from 1970 to 2019. Albania has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1996, but only a regular basis since 2008. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. It was not created until the 1956 Academy Awards, in which a competitive Academy Award of Merit, known as the Best Foreign Language Film Award, was created for non-English speaking films, and has been given annually since. The Albanian submission is decided by a committee appointed by the Albanian Ministry of Culture. This is a list of submissions to the 93rd Academy Awards for the Best International Feature Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The International Feature Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The category was previously called the Best Foreign Language Film, but this was changed in April 2019 to Best International Feature Film, after the Academy deemed the word "Foreign" to be outdated.
