Onward To Freedom
''Onward to Freedom'' is a solo album by Tourniquet drummer Ted Kirkpatrick. Originally announced as a side project to be released as The Tourniquet Ark, Kirkpatrick made the decision to release it under the Tourniquet name with himself listed as the primary artist. This has led to confusion in the fan community, and the erroneous classification of the album as an actual Tourniquet release. This has been exacerbated by Kirkpatrick choosing to refer to it as part of the Tourniquet catalog instead of as a part of his solo catalog. The album features many musicians, such as Marty Friedman and Chris Poland of Megadeth, Mattie Montgomery of For Today and Michael Sweet of Stryper. Tourniquet was an American Christian metal band that formed in Los Angeles in 1990. The band was founded by Ted Kirkpatrick, Guy Ritter, and Gary Lenaire. The band primarily performs a mixture of thrash metal, thrash, Progressive metal, progressive, and neoclassical metal, and is influenced by additional, non-rock music, rock forms of music such as Classical music, classical and world music. Trouble (band)
Trouble is an American doom metal band from Aurora, Illinois, formed in 1979. They are often considered one of the pioneers of doom metal, and have been referred to as one of the genre's "big four" alongside Candlemass, Pentagram and Saint Vitus. The band created a distinct style, taking influences of the British heavy metal bands Black Sabbath and Judas Priest,Leif Edling, Trouble interview, ''Trouble Live In Stockholm'' DVD. and psychedelic rock of the 1970s. King James (band)
King James is a heavy metal supergroup formed in 1993 with guitarist Rex Carroll ( Whitecross) and frontman Jimi Bennett (Sacred Fire). Some time later, they recruited Tim Gaines and Robert Sweet of Stryper, and released their first album in 1994. The band supported the album with a tour without Gaines, who declined to join after the recording. Sweet toured with the band into 1996, but did not participate in their second release. Carroll and Bennett remained together and released a second album, ''The Fall'', in 1997. At that time there was talk of another King James release, but Whitecross regrouped, and Jimi joined former Petra drummer Louie Weaver to form Viktor. Both groups have released new CDs as of 2006. Whitecross (band)
Whitecross is an American Christian metal band from Illinois, formed in 1985 by singer Scott Wenzel and guitarist Rex Carroll, and re-formed in 2000. The band won three Dove Awards in the 1990s. History Whitecross formed in 1985 in Waukegan, Illinois, releasing their first recording in 1987. Their early albums, which often invite comparisons to Ratt, are laced with fast, technical guitar work. In 1994, Rex Carroll split with lead vocalist Scott Wenzel. Wenzel retained the use of the name "Whitecross" while Carroll went on to form King James with Jimi Bennett (see below). At this point the band's sound underwent a drastic change. King's X
King's X is an American rock band that originated in 1979 in Springfield, Missouri. They were first called The Edge and later became Sneak Preview before settling on its current name in 1985. The band's current lineup has remained intact for more than three decades, consisting of vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick, drummer Jerry Gaskill and guitarist Ty Tabor. Their music combines progressive metal, funk and soul with vocal arrangements influenced by gospel, blues, and British Invasion rock groups. The Great American Beast
The Great American Beast (formerly known as The Red Affair) was an American Southern rock/ metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio. The group disbanded in 2010 to focus on other pursuits. History Formation and early releases (2002-2007) Formed in 2002 as The Red Affair, the band's original line-up consisted of several members from A Day in the Life, an alternative rock band from the same home city. The Red Affair went on hiatus a year later, and reformed in 2004 to record the EP ''Memento Mori''. The Red Affair was featured on the three-way split EP with A Day in the Life and Hit the Lights entitled, '' From Ohio With Love''. After the departure of Justin Netherly, guitarist Levi Walden took over on vocals, with three other members (Peter, Ben, and Kipp) also joining the band. Besieged (band)
Besieged is a Christian metal band from Saginaw and Bay City, Michigan. The band was formed by drummer Josh Schroeder, the only member in every line-up, who later became a producer and has recorded albums for Those Who Fear, A Plea for Purging, and The Burial. Former vocalist Mattie Montgomery left to join the band For Today in 2007. The band was supposed to do a Super Mario Bros. 3 cover for the game, but it is uncertain if that happened or not. The band played on the Blood and Ink Fest, along with, xLooking Forwardx, Burden of a Day, and Saints Never Surrender. History Besieged was formed by drummer Josh Schroeder, guitarists, Josh Keef and Andrew Rick, bassist Paul Stotts, and vocalist Freddie Willbanks in 2004. Luke Easter is an American singer and songwriter. Before becoming a solo artist, he was the lead singer of the Christian metal band Tourniquet. History Easter had been a part of a band called Heaven's Gate, prior to the cult's formation. Easter joined Tourniquet during their 1992 ''Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance'' tour, replacing former vocalist Guy Ritter. According to Easter, Bryan Gray (The Blamed, Rocks in Pink Cement) was the reason for his induction, directing him to bassist Victor Macias. With his addition, the band changed musical direction with the first album to feature Easter, ''Vanishing Lessons''.
