Ontario Series Lacrosse
Ontario Series Lacrosse, known as the OLA Senior B Lacrosse League from 1999-2019, is a Senior box lacrosse league based out of Ontario, Canada sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Many of the players in the league play or have played in the National Lacrosse League. OSL winners earn a chance at the national championship—the Presidents Cup. History The league was formed in late 1999 with play beginning in 2000. Founding members of the league were the Arthur Aces, Brooklin Merchants and St. Clair Storm. Burlington Chiefs, Owen Sound Woodsmen and Six Nations Crash and were accepted for the 2001 season. The Ennismore Shamrocks were added for the 2002 season while the Six Nations Crash changed their named to the Six Nations Mohawk Stars. The league expanded again for 2003 with the Ajax-Pickering Rock and Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks. Box Lacrosse
Box lacrosse, also known as boxla, box, or indoor lacrosse, is an indoor version of lacrosse played mostly in North America. The game originated in Canada in the 1930s, where it is more popular than field lacrosse. Lacrosse is Canada's official national summer sport. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of five players and one goalie each, and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. The playing area is called a box, in contrast to the open playing field of field lacrosse. The object of the game is to use a lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by shooting a solid rubber lacrosse ball into the opponent's goal. Ajax-Pickering Rock
The Oakville Rock are Senior "A" box lacrosse team from Oakville, Ontario. They play in the Major Series Lacrosse league where under the current format, they compete in 20 regular season games (10 at home) from May through July and playoffs beginning in August and ending with the Mann Cup in September. The Rock play their home games at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville. History Formerly the ''Ajax-Pickering Rock''¸ the team began competition in 2003 in the Senior "B" loop. Within 3 years of their founding, the Ajax Rock finished first in the OLA Senior "B" League and reached the finals against the Owen Sound Woodsmen. Oakville Titans
The Oakville Rock Senior B are a Canadian Senior box lacrosse team. The team plays in the City of Oakville, Ontario, Canada and participate in Ontario Series Lacrosse. History Established in 2006 as the Wellington Aces, the team was rebranded as Wellington Dufferins for the 2009 season. After two seasons the team was again renamed - now as Wellington Dufferin Titans. In 2012, the club relocated to Oakville and became the Oakville Titans. In that season, the Titans finished second in the regular season, but lost in the semi-finals to an experienced Owen Sound Woodsmen squad. The 2013 season was a challenging one for the program and marked the only time the team has missed the playoffs. The team had back to back semi-final finishes in 2014 and 2015. Barrie Lakeshores
The Barrie Lakeshores are Junior "A" box lacrosse team from Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The Lakeshores play in the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. History Founded in 2000 as an Ontario Jr. B lacrosse team, the Barrie Tornado were named after the deadly 1985 tornado that put the Canadian City on the map. The 2000 season, their first season, was a good start but nothing special. Since then, the Tornado have never slipped below a .500 record. Between 2000 and 2003, the team got progressively better. In 2000, they started out with a 5-15-0 record. The next season, the Tornado performed much better with an even 10-10-0 record, making the playoffs. In the first round, the squad faced the Green Gaels, the defending Canadian Champs. The boys from Barrie made quick work defeating the Gaels 3–1. The Six Nations Rivermen are a Senior box lacrosse team. The team played in the City of Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada and participate in the OLA Senior B Lacrosse League. They are the defending 2015 Presidents Cup National Champions and two-time defending Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior B Champions. Owen Sound ( 2021 Census population 21,612) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The county seat of Grey County, it is located at the mouths of the Pottawatomi and Sydenham Rivers on an inlet of Georgian Bay. As the Woodsmen they were two-time Presidents Cup National Champions, two-time National Silver Medalists, two-time National Bronze Medalists, and seven-time Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior B Champions.
