Ontario Highway 526
Secondary Highway 526, commonly referred to as Highway 526, is a provincially maintained secondary highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is a short and lightly travelled route that connects Highway 69 with the community of Britt. Route description Highway 526 is a short route which provides access from the community of Britt to Highway 69. West of the community, the road is known as Riverside Drive. The route is lightly travelled, used by an average of 580 vehicles per day in 2007. It intersects Highway 69 three-fifths of the distance between Parry Sound and Sudbury. The highway begins in the community of Britt, which was established at the head of Byng Inlet, the delta of the Magnetawan River as it flows into Georgian Bay. Britt, Ontario
Britt is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in the unincorporated township of Wallbridge in the Parry Sound District. The community is located on the north shore of the Magnetawan River at Byng Inlet, approximately five kilometres west of Highway 69, at the end of Highway 526. Like its neighbouring community of Byng Inlet on the south shore, Britt was originally a sawmill village, known as Byng Inlet North when the Burton Mill located there in 1880. As the lumber industry in this area had reached its peak, prior to the building of the CPR between 1903 and 1908, the community on the north shore was established as a port for receiving coal, required for the railway's steam locomotives. It was after this, that Byng Inlet North was renamed Britt for Thomas Britt, the CPR Superintendent of Fuels. Henvey is an unorganized geographic township in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within the Parry Sound District. Part of the census subdivision of Unorganized Centre Parry Sound District, the township includes the communities of Britt Station and Still River. It formerly had larger boundaries, also including the ghost town of Key Harbour, although the more northerly section was transferred to the municipality of Killarney in the 1990s. Britt Station is part of the local services board of Britt and Byng Inlet. The township is served by provincial highways 69 and 526.
