Onna No Michi
is the debut single by Shiro Miya & Pinkara Trio released on May 10, 1972, in Japan. The lyrics are simple, but sad. The song is written about a woman who devoted herself to her only man but was deserted by him and was crying. The single became a mega-hit song and had been recognized as the best-selling song in Japan until "Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun" was released. The song holds an all-time consecutive number-one record to spend 16 consecutive weeks at the number-one position on the Oricon single charts. Shiro Miya
was a Japanese enka singer, lyricist and composer. His band Shiro Miya and the Pinkara Trio's 1972 song "Onna no Michi", became the second best-selling single in Japanese Oricon charts history, selling over 3.25 million copies. Life and career Miya in Kasai, Hyogo Prefecture. In 1959 while working in a cabaret in Himeji he independently produced "Otoko no Kado". In 1961, he started the comic band Suparō Boys. In 1963, he formed the comic band Pinkara Trio together with his elder brother Gorō Miya and Hiroshi Namiki. In 1972, their debut song under the Nippon Columbia, "Onna no Michi", sold about 4 million copies, following that "Onna no Negai" and "Onna no Yume" also reached million copies in sales each. In 1973 Hiroshi Namaki left Pinkara Trio, the band name became Pinkara Kyōdai (meaning pin kara brothers). Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun
is a song by Japanese singer Masato Shimon, released by Canyon Records (now Pony Canyon) on December 25, 1975. The B-side "Ippon Demo Ninjin" was sung by Japanese folk singer Kenichi Nagira. However, the label claimed that the song was a children's song because the song was used in Japanese child television program ''Hirake Ponkikki''. On the Oricon weekly chart, it became the first single to debut at number one in the Oricon history on January 5, 1976, and stayed there for 11 consecutive weeks. It surpassed the sales of "Onna no Michi" and eventually sold over 4.53 million copies, becoming the best-selling song in Japan. This record was certified by Guinness World Records. Despite the success, the company paid Shimon only 50,000 yen (approximately 170 dollars given the exchange rate at the time) as a guarantee.
