Ongina
Ongina is the stage name of Ryan Ong Palao (born January 6, 1982), a Filipino-American drag performer and HIV activist who came to international attention on the first season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' and the fifth season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars''. Since appearing on the show, he has been featured in a number of web series produced by World of Wonder, including ''Wait, What?'', ''Ring My Bell'', and ''Fashion Photo RuView''. He was one of the first reality TV stars to come out as HIV-positive. Early life Palao was born in the Philippines in 1982. He and his family relocated to Seattle, Washington in 1994. His original drag name, before Ongina, was Peck-Peck Galore. He started performing in drag in 2003 at an Asian restaurant called Lucky Cheng's, where he worked alongside then-unknown Laverne Cox. RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (season 5)
The fifth season of '' RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'' was announced by VH1 on August 19, 2019. On February 20, 2020, the show's official Twitter account announced the season premiere date of June 5, 2020, on Showtime. Following the cast announcement on May 8, 2020, producers announced that the show would instead air on VH1 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused "various scheduling and programming adjustments". The official trailer announced a change in the elimination rules: Unlike seasons 2, 3, and 4 of ''All Stars'', only a single challenge winner is named each week. The winning queen then lip syncs for her legacy against a guest Lip Sync Assassin from a previous season. If the challenge winner wins the lip sync, she gains the power to eliminate one of the queens in the bottom and win a $10,000 prize. RuPaul's Drag Race (season 1)
The first season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' premiered in the United States on February 2, 2009, on Logo. Nine contestants were selected to compete in the running of becoming "America's Next Drag Superstar." The first season was filmed during the summer of 2008. The winner of the first season won a cash prize of $20,000, $5,000 worth of MAC Cosmetics, was featured in an LA Eyeworks campaign, and joined the Logo Drag Race tour. One of the nine contestants to compete on ''RuPaul's Drag Race'', Nina Flowers was determined by an audience vote via the show's official website to be the season's Miss Congeniality. The results were announced in early September 2008. The theme song playing during the runway every episode was "Cover Girl" from RuPaul's album ''Champion''. The eleventh season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' aired on VH1 from February 28, 2019, to May 30, 2019. The cast featured fourteen new queens and one returning queen, making it the largest cast of the series so far; the contestants were announced in a live stream hosted by season 10 winner Aquaria and Adam Rippon on January 24, 2019. Motor City Pride
Motor City Pride is an annual LGBT pride street festival, held in Hart Plaza in Detroit, Michigan the second Saturday and Sunday of June. Previously held in Ferndale, Michigan, the festival moved to Detroit in 2011. It is the largest LGBT event held in Michigan. Craig Covey, then director of Michigan Organization for Human Rights, is credited with organizing Detroit's first Gay and Lesbian pride march in 1985. The Detroit Area Gay & Lesbian Council organized PrideFest from 1982 to 1992. In 1993, PrideFest became its own organization known as South East Michigan Pride and held at the Oakland Community College in Royal Oak, MI with Michael Lary as the event director.
