One Wisconsin Now is a liberal issue advocacy organization based in Wisconsin that focuses on advancing "progressive leadership and values." Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Wisconsin is the 25th-largest state by total area and the 20th-most populous. It is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan to the northeast, and Lake Superior to the north. Annette Kingsland Ziegler (born March 6, 1964) is an American attorney and jurist serving as Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court since May 2021. She has been a member of the Court since 2007, and is generally regarded as being a part of its conservative wing. Ziegler served as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Washington County from 1997 to 2007. Early life and education Ziegler was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Joyce and Rex R. Kingsland, and graduated from Grand Rapids's Forest Hills Central High School in 1982. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration and psychology from Hope College in 1986, and a Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 1989. While in law school she was a staff editor of the Marquette Law Review, as well as a recipient of the Dean's Award. Wisconsin Supreme Court
The Wisconsin Supreme Court is the highest appellate court in Wisconsin. The Supreme Court has jurisdiction over original actions, appeals from lower courts, and regulation or administration of the practice of law in Wisconsin. Location The Wisconsin Supreme Court normally sits in its main hearing room in the East Wing of the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin. Michael J. Gableman (born September 18, 1966) is an Americans, American lawyer and former justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. A Republican Party (US), Republican, he has been described as a hard-line conservative. From June 2021 until August 2022, Gableman was employed as a "special counsel" by Wisconsin Assembly speaker Robin Vos to investigate the results of the 2020 United States presidential election in Wisconsin. His fourteen month investigation resulted in various unsubstantiated accusations against municipal clerks and members of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, but found nothing of substance. Gableman himself became a lightning rod for controversy and was the subject of several lawsuits and personal disputes with other lawmakers; he was ultimately fired by Vos just three days after the August 2022 primary elections in Wisconsin.
