One Hit Wonder (band)
One Hit Wonder was an American punk band, from Long Beach, California. The bands original line-up featured singer/guitarists Dan Root and Robbie Allen, bassist Randy Bradbury, and drummer Christopher Webb. Allen and Root had previously played together in Tender Fury, while Webb had been the drummer of No Doubt. In 1993, Allen left the band, after recording the single "Long Beach vs. the World". Their debut EP was issued in 1995, and was produced by the Robb Brothers. After the death of Jason Thirsk in 1996, Randy Bradbury left to join Pennywise and was replaced by Daniel Gadberry. Former pro-skater Ray "Bones" Rodriguez also joined the band on guitar and they released their debut EP ''Where's the World'' in 1994. Front man Dan Root is currently the guitarist in Adolescents. Jason Thirsk
Jason Matthew Thirsk (December 25, 1967 – July 29, 1996) was the bass player of the California punk rock band Pennywise from 1988 through his death in 1996. He grew up in Hermosa Beach, California. Pennywise was formed in 1988 by Thirsk along with singer Jim Lindberg, guitarist Fletcher Dragge, and drummer Byron McMackin. Thirsk reportedly did not like to travel. Thirsk had been in rehabilitation for alcoholism and suffered from depression. Death and legacy At the age of 28, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His girlfriend discovered his body approximately a day after his death. The band decided to continue making music after Thirsk's death, first by dedicating their performances to him at Warped Tour 1996. They later brought in bass guitarist Randy Bradbury from One Hit Wonder. The band then set about writing an album of new material which was made up of mostly anti- suicide messages. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. Long Beach Short Bus
Long Beach Shortbus was an American reggae-influenced punk band from Long Beach, California, United States. The band consists of four regular members: RAS-1 (lead vocals and guitar), Trey Pangborn (guitar), Eric Wilson (bass guitar) and Damion Ramirez (drums). Shortbus originated as a side project of RAS-1 and Eric Wilson, eventually taking shape after the Long Beach Dub Allstars disbanded in 2002. Their first CD was a self-titled EP and featured their hit "California Grace." Their second CD was entitled ''Flying Ship of Fantasy'', featuring tracks from their first album. "California Grace" is also available on the soundtrack to the MTV reality series ''Laguna Beach''. On October 7, 2007, it was announced that the band would be parting ways. Skate Punk
Skate punk (also known as skatecore and skate rock) is a skater subculture and punk rock subgenre that developed in the 1980s. Originally a form of hardcore punk that had been closely associated with skate culture, skate punk evolved into a more melodic genre of punk rock in the 1990s similar to pop punk. Since then, it has predominately featured fast tempos, lead guitar playing (including guitar riffs and guitar solos), fast drumming, and singing (sometimes including vocal harmonies). The Vandals
The Vandals are an American punk rock band, established in 1980 in Orange County, California. They have released ten full-length studio albums, two live albums, and have toured the world extensively, including performances on the Vans Warped Tour. They are well known for their use of humor, preferring to use their music as a vehicle for comedy and sarcasm rather than as a platform for more serious issues. Adolescents (band)
The Adolescents are an American punk rock band formed in Fullerton, California in 1980. Part of the hardcore punk movement in southern California in the early 1980s, they were one of the main punk acts to emerge from Orange County, along with their peers in Agent Orange and Social Distortion. Founding bassist Steve Soto was the sole constant member of the band since its inception until his 2018 death, with singer Tony Reflex being in the group for all but one album. During the 1980s the band went through several lineup changes, breakups, and reunions, most involving drummer Casey Royer and guitarist brothers Rikk, Frank, and Alfie Agnew.
