One Glorious Day
''One Glorious Day'' is a lost 1922 American silent fantasy comedy film directed by James Cruze and written by Barry Barringer and Walter Woods. The film stars Will Rogers, Lila Lee, Alan Hale, Sr., Johnny Fox, George Nichols, and Emily Rait. It was released on January 29, 1922, by Paramount Pictures. Working titles included ''Ek, A Fighting Soul'' and ''Souls Before Birth''. Forrest J. Ackerman, the publisher of ''Famous Monsters of Filmland'' magazine, credited this film as being the one that "created his lifelong interest in science fiction and horror". The film was originally planned by Cruze, under the title ''The Melancholy Spirit'', as a vehicle for the comic actor Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, who contributed ideas to the project. However, during the initial planning stages, Arbuckle gave a party in San Francisco at which a young starlet died, and one of her friends told the authorities that Arbuckle had raped the woman. James Cruze
James Cruze (born James Cruze Bosen; March 27, 1884 – August 3, 1942) was a silent film actor and film director. Early years Cruze's middle name came from the battle of Vera Cruz. He was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but did not practice the religion after his teenage years. Very little is certain about his childhood and teen years because he told a different story at every interview he granted. Career Cruze acted in, directed and or produced over 100 films mainly during the silent film era. His first known acting job was at Lubin Manufacturing Company in 1910. He started at Thanhouser Company in 1911 with ''She'' (1911) which is where the majority of his body of work was produced, much of it as the leading man. After leaving Thanhouser in 1916, he worked for several other companies as director and producer, primarily for Paramount Pictures, from 1918 to 1938. Forrest James Ackerman (November 24, 1916 – December 4, 2008) was an American magazine editor; science fiction authors, science fiction writer and literary agent; a founder of science fiction fandom; a leading expert on science fiction, horror, and fantasy films; a prominent advocate of the Esperanto language; and one of the world's most avid collectors of genre books and film memorabilia. He was based in Los Angeles, California. As a literary agent, he represented such science fiction authors as Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, A.E. Van Vogt, Curt Siodmak, and L. Ron Hubbard. For more than 70 years he was one of science fiction's staunchest spokesmen and promoters. Clarence Burton
Clarence Forrest Burton (May 10, 1882 – December 2, 1933) was an American silent film actor. Biography Burton was born in Fort Lyon, in Benton County, Missouri and started in show business at the age of 5, playing stock and musical comedy in road productions. He was signed into films in late 1912 and starred in 132 films between 1913 and 1932. By late 1920, Burton had become heavy enough to be considered unsuited for his typical villainous roles in films. A trainer supervised a program of exercise and diet until Burton had lost enough weight to be cast in the Paramount film ''The Jacklins''. He died of a heart attack in 1933 at the age of 51 in Hollywood, California. His interment was located at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, but was removed on September 6, 1950.
