On The Road (Italian TV Series)
''On the Road'' is a 1957 novel by American writer Jack Kerouac, based on the travels of Kerouac and his friends across the United States. It is considered a defining work of the postwar Beat and Counterculture generations, with its protagonists living life against a backdrop of jazz, poetry, and drug use. The novel is a ''roman à clef'', with many key figures of the Beat movement, such as William S. Burroughs (Old Bull Lee), Allen Ginsberg (Carlo Marx), and Neal Cassady (Dean Moriarty) represented by characters in the book, including Kerouac, himself, as the narrator, Sal Paradise. The idea for ''On the Road'', Kerouac's second novel, was formed during the late 1940s, in a series of notebooks and then typed out, on a continuous reel of paper, during three weeks in April 1951. It was published by Viking Press in 1957. ''The New York Times'' hailed the book's appearance as "the most beautifully executed, the clearest, and the most important utterance yet made by the generation ...

Quebec French
Quebec French (french: français québécois ), also known as Québécois French, is the predominant variety of the French language spoken in Canada. It is the dominant language of the province of Quebec, used in everyday communication, in education, the media, and government. Canadian French is a common umbrella term to describe all varieties of French used in Canada, including Quebec French. Formerly it was used to refer solely to Quebec French and the closely related dialects spoken in Ontario and Western Canada, in contrast with Acadian French, which is spoken in some areas of eastern Quebec (Gaspé Peninsula), New Brunswick, and in other parts of Atlantic Canada, and Métis French, which is found generally across the Prairie provinces. The term is commonly used to refer to Quebec working class French (when considered a basilect), characterized by certain features often perceived as phased out, "old world" or "incorrect" in standardized French. ''Joual'', in particular, ex ...

Le Devoir
''Le Devoir'' (, "Duty") is a French-language newspaper published in Montreal and distributed in Quebec and throughout Canada. It was founded by journalist and politician Henri Bourassa in 1910. ''Le Devoir'' is one of few independent large-circulation newspapers in Quebec (and one of the few in Canada) in a market dominated by the media conglomerate Quebecor (including '' Le Journal de Montréal''). Historically ''Le Devoir'' was considered Canada's francophone newspaper of record, although in the 21st century it has been challenged for that title by the increased status of competitor '' La Presse''. History Henri Bourassa, a young Liberal Party MP from Montreal, rose to national prominence in 1899 when he resigned his seat in Parliament in protest at the Liberal government's decision to send troops to support the British in the South African War of 1899–1902. Bourassa was opposed to all Canadian participation in British wars and would go on to become a key figure in fi ...

Visions Of Cody
''Visions of Cody'' is an experimental novel by Jack Kerouac. It was written in 1951–1952, and though not published in its entirety until 1972, it had by then achieved an underground reputation. Since its first printing, ''Visions of Cody'' has been published with an introduction by Beat poet Allen Ginsberg titled "The Visions of the Great Rememberer." Origins ''Visions of Cody'' is derived from experimental spontaneous prose inserts that Kerouac added to the original manuscript of ''On the Road'' in 1951–52. Part of the novel is a fast-forward recapitulation of the events described in ''On the Road'', which was also about Kerouac and Neal Cassady. When Kerouac appeared on ''The Steve Allen Show'' in 1959, he secretly read from the introduction to the then-unpublished ''Visions of Cody'' although he was supposedly reading from ''On The Road'', the book he was holding. Excerpts from the novel were published by New Directions in 1959 as a 120 page, signed limited-edition of 75 ...
