On The First Beat
''On the First Beat'' (Traditional Chinese: 學警出更) is a TVB modern action series broadcast in June 2007. The series is a direct sequel to 2005's '' The Academy'' ( 學警雄心). The main cast features Ron Ng, Sammul Chan and Chin Ka Lok from the original series and new cast including Michael Tao, Sonija Kwok, Joey Yung, Kenny Kwan and Kate Tsui. The story continues on with the two male leads in the series with their growth as young police officers with personal conflicts in their bonds as friends and romantic relationships. The drama is about the life of a group of Hong Kong police officers and cadets inside and outside of work. A direct sequel, ''E.U.'' ( 學警狙擊) was produced and aired in 2009 continued with Ron Ng and Sammul Chan, alongside Michael Miu, Kathy Chow, Elanne Kwong, and Michael Tse. Ron Ng
Ron Ng Cheuk-hei (, born 2 September 1979) is a Hong Kong actor, singer, and former dancer. He first rose to popularity in the 2003 TVB drama ''Triumph in the Skies.'' He has since starred in several successful television series, most notably ''Twin of Brothers'', '' The Academy'' series, and the ''Flying Tiger'' franchise. He is known for his various police roles in dramas series. Ng has also appeared in the films ''Bleeding Mountain'' (2012), ''Shock Wave'' (2017), and ''Bodies at Rest'' (2019). Michael Tse
Michael Tse Tin-wah (born 15 July 1967) is a Hong Kong actor and singer. Background Michael Tse graduated from TVB's Dance Training Class and worked with TVB as a dancer for five years. He then left TVB and formed a boy band group called 風火海 (Wind Fire Sea) with Jordan Chan and Jason Chu. Two CDs were then released in 1994 and 1995 accordingly by the boy band group. In 1996's ''Young and Dangerous''(古惑仔), Tse acted as a character called "Tai Tin Yee" in the triad genre. The film was a huge success, which led to nine sequels and spinoffs before the series concluded in 2000. The boy band group was dismissed later then.
