''On Fertile Lands'' ( tr, Bereketli Topraklar Üzerinde) is a 1980 in film, 1980 Turkish drama film, directed by Erden Kıral based on a story by Orhan Kemal, featuring Tuncel Kurtiz as the head of a group of day labourers looking for work in the Çukurova region. "The story," according to Rekin Teksoy, "became a legend about village farm labourers, their merciless conditions, their hopes, their pain and their goldenhearts." It won Grand Jury Prize for Best Screenplay at the Strasbourg Film Festival and two Golden Oranges at the 18th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Erden Kıral (10 April 1942 – 17 July 2022) was a Turkish film director and screenwriter. He directed 12 films from 1978 on. His 1979 film, '' The Canal'', was entered into the 11th Moscow International Film Festival, and his 1983 film, '' A Season in Hakkari'', was entered into the 33rd Berlin International Film Festival The 33rd annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 18 February to 1 March 1983. The festival opened with the out of competition film, '' Tootsie'' by Sydney Pollack. Rekin Teksoy
Rekin Teksoy (1928 – May 30, 2012) was a Turkish lawyer, author and translator. Career Teksoy taught courses in Istanbul University’s Communications Faculty on ''Art of Cinema'' and ''Cinema and Literature Relations'' for over twenty years. He served on the executive board of ''Turkish Cinematech Association''. He also published articles of film criticism in the 1960s and later became one of the founding members of ''Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audiovisual Culture'' (TURSAK). In 1994, Teksoy began to prepare and present the weekly cinema and literature program for Turkish Radio and Television 2 ( TRT 2); the shows continued for 601 weeks. Tuncel Tayanç Kurtiz (1 February 1936 – 27 September 2013) was a Turkish theatre, movie and TV series actor, playwright, and film director. Since 1964, he acted in more than 70 movies, including many international productions. Early years He was born in , Kocaeli, a town in Turkey.
