Omu-Aran
Omu-Aran the Head Post of Igbomina land, is a town in the Nigerian state of Kwara. It originated from Ife and currently the local government headquarters of Irepodun local government. Omu-Aran is about 8 kilometers away from Aran-Orin. History Omu-Aran was founded over 500 years ago. The community was founded due to the migration of people from Ile-Ife. There was a drought in Ile-Ife. To know the cause of the drought, the oracle was consulted. The oracle said Ife was over-crowded and therefore some people had to leave. Some princes were selected to migrate to other places and were given the symbol of authority. One of the selected princes was Olomu-Aperan, the founder of Omu-Aran. Omutoto or Omitoto, one of the wives of Olofinaiye Oduduwa was the mother of both Olomu Aperan and Owa Obokun. This tradition is accepted in Ilesha and Ile Ife today. Adogbajale-bi-ileke II
Charles Oladele Akande Ibitoye, was the thirty third traditional ruler (king) or Olomu of Omu-Aran from 1993 until his death in the year 2017. He was born into the Ruling House of Ijawusi of Ikoja Compound (28 October 1953 - 30 November 2017). He took the regnal name Adogbajale-bi-ileke II. Adeoye "Oye" Owolewa (born 1989) is a Nigerian American politician, pharmacist, and a member of the Democratic Party. In November 2020, he was elected as the shadow representative of the United States House of Representatives from the District of Columbia. Theophilus Bamigboye
Theophilus O Bamigboye (born 1951) is a retired Nigerian Colonel who served as Military Administrator of Bauchi State and then Osun State before the return to democracy in May 1999. He later entered politics, competing for governorship of Kwara State in 2007. Irepodun, Kwara
Irepodun is a Local Government Area in Kwara State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Omu-Aran. The local government is located on 8.5381º N, 5.1431º E. It has an area of 737 km and a population of 148,610 at the 2006 census. It has very significant Yoruba cultural and historical significance. And is populated by the Igbomina people. The people of Ifelodun are Yorubas and mostly of Igbomina origin with roots in Ife, Oyo and Ketu. Aran-Orin
Aran-Orin is a town in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State, Nigeria. It originated from Ile-Ife. It is a border town located very close to Osun State and Ekiti State to the west and south respectively. Aran-Orin is about from Omu-Aran the local government headquarters. Igbomina
The Ìgbómìnà (also colloquially Igboona or Ogboona) are a subgroup of the Yoruba ethnic group, which originates from the north central and southwest Nigeria. They speak a dialect also called Ìgbómìnà or Igbonna, classified among the Central Yoruba of the three major Yoruba dialectical areas. The Ìgbómìnà spread across what is now southern Kwara State and northern Osun State. Peripheral areas of the dialectical region have some similarities to the adjoining Ekiti, Ijesha and Oyo dialects. David Bamigboye
Femi David Lasisi Bamigboye (7 December 1940 – 21 September 2018) was a Nigerian military commander and politician of Kwara State from May 1967 to July 1975, after it had been split from the old Northern Region during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon. David Bamigboye is a member of the Igbomina ethnic group. His younger brother is Theophilus Bamigboye, another military ruler turned politician. Lateef Kayode Jakande (23 July 1929 – 11 February 2021) was a Nigerian journalist and politician who served as governor of Lagos State from 1979 to 1983, and later Minister of Works under the Sani Abacha military regime. Kwara
