Omar Cisneros
Omar Cisneros Bonora (born 19 November 1989) is a Cuban track and field athlete who competes in the 400 metres hurdles. He is the Cuban national record holder for the event with his personal best of 47.99 seconds. He won gold medals in the hurdles and 4×400 metres relay at the Pan American Games in 2011. Cisneros represented Cuba at the 2008 Summer Olympics at the age of eighteen and competed at the World Championships in Athletics in 2009 and 2011, and the 2012 Summer Olympics. He has also won gold medals with the Cuban relay team at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics. Early life Born in Nuevitas, Camagüey, Cisneros is one of three children. Nuevitas
Nuevitas is a municipality and port town in the Camagüey Province of Cuba. The large bay was sighted by Christopher Columbus in 1492. History Founded in 1775, the city was moved to its present site in 1828. Before the 1977 national municipal reform, Nuevitas was divided into the barrios of Primero, Segundo, Tercero, Alvaro Reinoso, Lugareño, Redención, San Miguel and Senado. Geography Nuevitas is located on the Guincho peninsula on the north coast, and borders with the municipalities of Guáimaro, Minas, Manatí (in Las Tunas Province) and Morón (in Ciego de Ávila Province). The World Athletics Championships (until 2019 known as the World Championships in Athletics) are a biennial athletics competition organized by World Athletics (formerly IAAF, International Association of Athletics Federations). Alongside the Olympic Games, they represent the highest level championships of senior international outdoor athletics competition for track and field athletics globally, including marathon running and race walking. The Barrientos Memorial ( es, Memorial José Barrientos) is an annual track and field meeting in Havana, Cuba each May. The event was first held in 1946, in recognition of José Barrientos (a former Cuban Olympic sprinter), who died in an aviation accident the previous year. The 2008 Ibero-American Championships in Athletics (''Spanish: XIII Campeonato Iberoamericano de Atletismo''), was an athletics competition which was held at the Estadio Tierra de Campeones in Iquique, Chile from June 13 to the 15th. A total of forty-four events were contested, of which 22 by male and 22 by female athletes. Yeimer López García (born August 28, 1982, in Buey Arriba, Granma) is a middle distance runner from Cuba, who represented his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 2004. Yunier Pérez Romero (born February 16, 1985, in San José de las Lajas) is a Cuban track and field athlete, who specializes in sprinting events. He won gold medals with the Cuban relay team at the 2008 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Cali, Colombia, with an Olympic qualifying time of 3:02.10. Perez competed for the men's 4 × 400 m relay at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, along with his teammates Omar Cisneros, William Collazo, and Yunior Díaz. The 2008 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Pedro Grajales in Cali, Colombia between 4–6 July 2008. A total of 44 events were contested, of which 22 by male and 22 by female athletes. During the three-day competition, six championship records were broken. The athletics competition at the 2007 Pan American Games was held at the Flamengo Park and Estádio Olímpico João Havelange in Rio de Janeiro between 22 July and 29 July 2007. In the 47 events that took place, thirteen Games records in athletics were equalled or beaten at the 2007 edition.
