Olympic Council Of Malaysia
Olympic Council of Malaysia, or commonly OCM or MOM, ( ms, Majlis Olimpik Malaysia, IOC code: MAS) is the National Olympic Committee representing Malaysia. It is also the body responsible for Malaysia's representation at the Commonwealth Games. History The body was founded in 1953 as the Federation of Malaya Olympic Council (FMOC). The FMOC received its recognition as the National Olympic Committee of the Federation of Malaya in May 1954. On 16 September 1963, Singapore and the British crown colonies of North Borneo and Sarawak joined the Federation of Malaya to form Malaysia. On 5 May 1964, the Singapore Olympic and Sports Council, the Sarawak Sports Olympic Committee and the Sabah Olympic Committee and the FMOC was merged to form the Olympic Council of Malaysia. Abdul Razak Hussein
Tun Haji Abdul Razak bin Dato' Hussein ( ms, عبد الرزاق بن حسين, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset; 11 March 1922 – 14 January 1976) was a Malaysian lawyer and politician who served as the 2nd Prime Minister of Malaysia from September 1970 until his death in January 1976. He also served as the first deputy prime minister of Malaysia from August 1957 to September 1970. He is referred to as the Father of Development (''Bapa Pembangunan''). Abdul Razak was the figure responsible for setting up Barisan Nasional (BN), which is the ruling coalition of political parties that held power in Malaysia. Abdul Razak is also renowned for launching the Malaysian New Economic Policy (MNEP). Commonwealth Games Associations
A Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) is a national sports council of the Commonwealth Sports movement. Each association is responsible for organising, supporting and overseeing their national team for both the Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Youth Games. The associations are subject to the rules of, and report to, the Commonwealth Games Federation. As well as promoting sports nationally, an association can also place a Bids for Commonwealth Games, bid for the Commonwealth Games for a potential host city. National Olympic Committees
A National Olympic Committee (NOC) is a national constituent of the worldwide Olympic movement. Subject to the controls of the International Olympic Committee, NOCs are responsible for organizing their people's participation in the Olympic Games. They may nominate cities within their respective areas as candidates for future Olympic Games. NOCs also promote the development of athletes and the training of coaches and officials at a national level within their geographies. The council was established on 18 May 1989 as the Malaysian Disabled Sports Council ''(Majlis Sukan Orang Cacat Malaysia)''. Malaysia At The Commonwealth Games
Malaysia (abbreviated MAS) has competed in all the Commonwealth Games held from 1966. In 1950, 1958, and 1962 the country competed as Malaya (MAL), see Malaya at the Commonwealth Games. In 1958 and 1962 North Borneo (BNB) (now Sabah) and Sarawak (SAR) competed separately at the Commonwealth Games (but not winning any medals). They both became states in the new country of Malaysia in 1963. Host nation Malaysia has hosted the Games once, in 1998, at Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1956, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except when Malaysia participated in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Malaysia made their debut at the Winter Olympic Games in 2018. The Federation of Malaya (now the states comprising West Malaysia) competed as ''Malaya'' (MAL) in the 1956 and 1960 Games. The present day state of Sabah sent an independent team to the 1956 Games as North Borneo, and Singapore also competed at the Olympics from 1948 to 1960. After these British colonies federated to form an independent ''Malaysia'' in 1963, the nation competed under that name for the first time at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Tunku Tan Sri Dato' Seri Imran ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar al-Haj (born 21 March 1948) is a Malaysian sports administrator. He was born as the second son of Ja'afar of Negeri Sembilan, the elected monarch of Negeri Sembilan, one of the thirteen states of Malaysia. He is often known in English simply as Prince Imran. Hamzah Abu Samah
Hamzah bin Abu Samah (5 January 1924 – 4 September 2012) was a Malaysian politician, lawyer and sports administrator who served as the president of Asian Football Confederation from 9 December 1978 to 1 August 1994. In 2006, he was conferred the FIFA Order of Merit for his contribution towards Asian football. He also one of the fourth Malaysian to join the exclusive club of AFC Diamond of Asia Award with Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak, Sultan Ahmad Shah and Sultan Abdullah. Henry Lee Hau Shik
Colonel Tun Sir Henry Lee Hau Shik (19 November 1900 – 22 June 1988), also known as H.S. Lee, was a Malaysian politician and businessman who served as the Minister of Finance and Minister of Transport under former Chief Minister and former Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman from August 1955 to August 1959 and in between, Federation of Malaya gained independence from Britain in August 1957.
