Malaysia first participated at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Youth Olympic Games. Malaysia made their debut at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2016. Olympic Council of Malaysia, or commonly OCM or MOM, ( ms, Majlis Olimpik Malaysia, IOC code: MAS) is the National Olympic Committee representing Malaysia. It is also the body responsible for Malaysia's representation at the Commonwealth Games. History The body was founded in 1953 as the Federation of Malaya Olympic Council (FMOC). The FMOC received its recognition as the National Olympic Committee of the Federation of Malaya in May 1954. On 16 September 1963, Singapore and the British crown colonies of North Borneo and Sarawak joined the Federation of Malaya to form Malaysia. On 5 May 1964, the Singapore Olympic and Sports Council, the Sarawak Sports Olympic Committee and the Sabah Olympic Committee and the FMOC was merged to form the Olympic Council of Malaysia. Badminton at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 12 October. The events took place at the Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Qualification A total of 32 athletes will participate in each gender. Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can enter a maximum of 2 competitors per gender should they both rank in the top 4 in the BWF Junior World Rankings. Otherwise each NOC will only be allowed a maximum of 1 competitor per gender. Each of the five continents must be represented in each gender. 27 quotas per gender will be decided based on BWF World Junior Ranking List on 3 May 2018. Diving at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 23 to 27 August at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre in Nanjing, China. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could gain a maximum of 4 quotas, 1 per each event and enter 2 athletes, 1 in each gender. As hosts, China was given the maximum quota. 8 athletes, 2 in each event was decided by the Tripartite Commission, but none were given thus the spots were reallocated to the next best athletes not yet qualified. The remaining 36 places were decided in a single qualifying event held in 2014.
