Olympic City Giants
Olympic City Giants were a professional basketball team based in Oldham, England. Previously based in Bolton and Bury, the team were known as Bolton & Bury Hawks and then Bolton & Bury Giants, the team were founder members of the British Basketball League in 1986. After an eighth-place finish in the 1987–88 Carlsberg League campaign, Giants qualified for their first and only BBL-era Play-off. They drew top seed Glasgow Rangers, and were soundly beaten in both games of the bet-of-three series by the regular season Champions. In 1988 after encountering several financial difficulties, Olympic City Giants formally merged with Manchester Eagles (formerly Manchester United) to become Manchester Giants, marking a return of the famous name after a three-year absence, following a merger between the original Manchester Giants and Manchester United in 1985. National Basketball League (England)
The National Basketball League, or NBL for short, is a league competition representing semi-professional and amateur basketball clubs from England and Wales. It forms levels 2 to 4 on the British basketball pyramid, in line with the Scottish Basketball Championship, sitting directly below the top tier British Basketball League. For the 2021-22 season, the league will have teams split across three levels: :Division 1 (14 teams) :Division 2 (24 teams across 2 regions) :Division 3 (67 teams across 7 regional leagues) The league also runs the English Women's Basketball League, with Division 1 and Division 2 North and South, and a junior structure with over 630 teams competing in Under-18s, Under-16s, Under-14s and Under-12s leagues. Jimmy Brandon
Waikiki were a rock group from Sydney, Australia, consisting of sister and brother Juanita Stein (bass/vocals) and Joel Stein (guitar/vocals), and Glenn Moule (drums) and Jimmy (or Jimmeh) Brandon (guitar). A new bass player Brendan Picchio joined the band in early 2003, replacing Brandon, with Juanita Stein moving from bass to rhythm guitar. In August 2003, Joel Stein explained the impact Picchio had made on the group. He told Radio Adelaide's Hermione Gilchrist that the new bassist was "the missing piece to the puzzle", adding, "he's what we've been looking for since we started." In early 2004 the group disbanded, moved to London and re-formed as Howling Bells. ''Waikiki'' released one album, ''I'm Already Home'', in 2002.
