Olympia Reign
The Olympia Reign was a semi-professional basketball team competing in the International Basketball League (IBL). The club ceased operations after playing two of a scheduled six-game schedule in 2014. History Based in Tumwater, Washington, they were founded in 2008 and played home games in the Nisqually Tribe Youth Recreation Center. They were sponsored by the Squaxin Island Tribe#Little Creek Casino Resort, Little Creek Casino Resort, the Kamilche, Washington, Kamilche Trading Post, Farmers Insurance Group, Olympia, Washington, Oympia Physical Therapy, Northwest Sports Medicine Center, and the Brick on Trosper. After three full seasons in the IBL the Reign and Little Creek Casino Resort parted ways. The club played just two games in 2013 and again in 2014 as a "branding team" in the league, not eligible for IBL playoffs. International Basketball Association
The International Basketball Association (IBA) was founded in 1995 by a group of businessmen led by Tom Anderson. The original owners of franchises in the league were George Daniel (Black Hills Posse-Rapid City, SD), John Korsmo, Al Gardner, and Al Hovland (Fargo Beez), Jeff McCarron (St. Cloud Rock 'n Rollers), Bill Sorensen (Dakota Wizards - Bismarck) and Earl Barish (Winnipeg Cyclones). Earl Barish of Winnipeg directed the IBA as League President and the league eventually grew to ten franchises. In the fall of 2001, CBA and IBL teams merged with the IBA and purchased the assets of the defunct CBA, including its name, logo and records from the bankruptcy court and restarted operations, calling itself the CBA. Albany Legends
Formed in 2010, the Schenectady Legends were a semi-professional basketball team in the Independent Basketball Association (IBA). The franchise was originally known as the Albany Legends, changing their name in 2014 with a move to Schenectady. They folded in 2017 with the end of Independent Basketball Association. As a result of experiences gained while playing with the Legends, more than 80% of alumni and current players, including former NBAers have been promoted to top professional leagues on five continents, including: the NBA D-League (Kyle Cuffe, Springfield Armor 2010), Japan, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Thailand, Canada, England, Italy, Chile, France and Germany. Portland Chinooks
The Portland Chinooks was a professional men's basketball team based out of Portland, Oregon. They were charter members of the International Basketball League and began play in the league in 2004. The team was owned by local businessman Terry Emmert. They played their home games at various locations since their inception, including the Peter Stott Center, the Rose Garden, and at Eastmoreland Courts in southeast Portland. The team colors of red and black were shared with their predecessors from the NBA, the Portland Trail Blazers. Emmert, who bought the team due in part to his problems with the ABA's Portland Reign, did not escape problems with the Chinooks in his attempt to bring minor league hoops to Portland. The Yamhill HighFlyers were an International Basketball League team based in McMinnville, Oregon. It was the first professional sports franchise of Yamhill County, Oregon. The team was founded by owner/general manager Eric Bailey in 2009 and was operated by YHF Entertainment, LLC. The High Flyers worked to gain the support of local business and offer opportunities for local athletes. The team did not field a team in 2013. The voice of the HighFlyers was the local radio personality Brian Eriksen, games were carried on local radio station KLYC 1260AM. 2009 Season The HighFlyers played an abbreviated four game schedule in 2009 for their branding year. Tumwater is a town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 25,350 at the 2020 census.
