Ollie Fahy
Oliver Fahy (born 21 October 1975) is an Irish hurler who played as a full-forward for the Galway senior team. Fahy joined the team during the 1994-95 National League and subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2004 National League. During that time he won five consecutive Connacht medals and two National League medals. Gort GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located in Gort, County Galway, Ireland. Founded at the turn of the 20th century, the club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. The club competes in Galway GAA competitions, and has won the Galway Senior Hurling Club Championship and Connacht Senior Club Hurling Championship on several occasions. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe) or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Gort ( or ) is a town of around 3,000 inhabitants in County Galway in the west of Ireland. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Connacht Senior Hurling Championship
The Connacht Senior Hurling Championship, known simply as the Connacht Championship, was an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Connacht Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It was the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Connacht, and was contested almost every year between 1900 and 1922 before a revival in the 1990s. The final served as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determined which team received the M. J. "Inky" Flaherty Cup. The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league.
