Olof Viktor "Olle" Åberg (24 January 1925 – 20 December 2013) was a Swedish middle distance runner. He competed in the 1500 metres The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletic ... at the 1952 Olympics and finished seventh. Åberg was born in Hofors, and in addition to the local club Hofors AIF he represented Gefle IF. With Gefle IF he participated in setting a world record in the 4×1500 metres relay at 15:34.6 minutes in 1947. The team improved the record in 1949. Åberg won the national 1500 m title in 1951. Next year, on 10 August 1952, he set a world record in the 1000 metres at 2:21.4. Stanislav Jungwirth
Stanislav Jungwirth (15 August 1930 - 11 April 1986) was a Czechoslovak middle-distance runner. Jungwirth came third in the 1500 metres at the 1954 European Championships and set a world record for the same distance in 1957. Career Jungwirth started training seriously in 1949. By 1951, he was already a quality runner, running the 1500 metres in 3:48.8; ''Track and Field News'' ranked him No. 8 in the world that year. In 1952, he won the Czechoslovak championship at both 800 and 1500 metres and was selected to run the latter distance at the Olympics in Helsinki, where he survived the heats but went out in the semi-finals. Late in October 1952, he set a new world record at 1000 metres in Stará Boleslav, running 2:21.2 to better Olle Åberg's time by 0.1 seconds. This record was broken less than ten months later by the United States' Mal Whitfield. Gävle
Gävle () is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 77,586 inhabitants in 2020, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer to the greater Stockholm region than it is to most other major settlements in Norrland and has a much milder climate than associated with said region.
