Olga Volkova (actress)
Olga Vladimirovna Volkova (russian: Ольга Владимировна Волкова; born 15 April 1939 in Leningrad) is a Russian theatre and film actress. She began her career at the Bryantsev Youth Theatre in Leningrad. She appeared in more than ninety films since 1968. Biography Olga Volkova was born in Leningrad (modern day - St. Petersburg), in a family of actors. In 1960 she graduated from the acting studio at the Leningrad Youth Theater (workshop of Leonid Makariev). In 1970-1976, a meeting took place at the Leningrad Comedy Theater, after which Olga moved to the Bolshoi Drama Theater, where she worked until 1996. Selected filmography Awards In 1993 Volkova received the People's Artist of Russia award. In Slavic folklore, Baba Yaga, also spelled Baba Jaga (from Polish), is a supernatural being (or one of a trio of sisters of the same name) who appears as a deformed and/or ferocious-looking woman. The Golden Eagle Award (russian: link=no, премия Золотой Орёл) is an award given by the National Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Russia to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, directors, actors, and writers. Modelled after the American Golden Globe Awards, the formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in Russia, alongside the Nika Award. The national Russian award is given out in 20 categories each January for motion pictures and TV series produced in Russia during the previous year.
