Olga Anisimova
Olga Anisimova (Russian Ольга Викторовна Анисимова; *January 29, 1972) is a former Russian biathlete. Career Anisimova started her career competing for the USSR at the Biathlon Youth and Junior World Championships between 1988 and 1991. Her Biathlon World Cup debut came during the 1991-92 Biathlon World Cup season in the individual in Hochfilzen, Austria. She competed during the 1993-94 Biathlon World Cup season. However, she was out of the A-Team following the 1995-96 Biathlon World Cup season, making a comeback a decade later during the 2006-07 Biathlon World Cup season. She made her way back into the Russian A-Team thanks to great results in the European Cup when she won the overall title during the 2005–06 season. Balakovo ( rus, Балако́во, p=bəlɐˈkovə) is a city in Saratov Oblast, Russia, located on the East bank of the Volga River about northeast of Saratov, the administrative center of the oblast. IBU Cup
The IBU Cup in biathlon has been held since the winter seasons of 1982–83 and 1988–89, for women and men, respectively. Until the 2007–08 season this competition was called European Cup. It is the second-rank competition in biathlon after the Biathlon World Cup. The IBU Cup season lasts from November/December to March, with contests in a different venue almost every week. Magdalena "Lena" Neuner (; since her 2014 marriage legally Magdalena Holzer; born 9 February 1987) is a retired German professional biathlete. She is the most successful woman of all time at Biathlon World Championships and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. At the age of 21, she became the youngest Overall World Cup winner in the history of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). With 34 World Cup wins, Neuner is ranked second all-time for career victories on the Biathlon World Cup tour. She has won the Overall World Cup title three times, in 2007–08, in 2009–10 and her final season in 2011–12. At only 25 years old, Neuner retired from the sport in March 2012, citing a lack of motivation and her desire for a normal life. Oberhof is a town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district of Thuringia, Germany. Located in the Thuringian Forest mountain range, it is a winter sports center and health resort. The Biathlon European Championships are the top-european competitions in biathlon. The first edition was held in 1994, with sprint, pursuit, individual and relay. The number of events has grown significantly over the years. Participation of non-European competitors Even though the event is called European Championships, the event is not restricted to European athletes only. The full name of the competition is Open Biathlon European Championships, meaning that biathletes from non-European countries are eligible to participate and their results being recognised.
