Oleksandr Korpan
Oleksandr Bohdanovych Korpan ( uk, Олександр Богданович Корпан; 8 September 1994 – 2 March 2022) was a Ukrainian military pilot (captain) of the Ukrainian Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, participant in the Russo-Ukrainian war, the best strike aircraft pilot in 2021. He is Hero of Ukraine (2022). Biography Korpan was born in Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi Oblast. He graduated from music school and . He served in the 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade named after General Vasily Nikoforov as commander of the aviation squadron of this brigade. Korpan died on 2 March 2022 during a combat flight in the airspace over Starokostiantyniv. Starokostiantyniv
Starokostiantyniv ( uk, Старокостянтинів; pl, Starokonstantynów, or ''Konstantynów''; yi, אלט-קאָנסטאַנטין ''Alt Konstantin'') is a city in Khmelnytskyi Raion, Khmelnytskyi Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Starokostiantyniv urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: History Starokostiantyniv was founded in the 16th century when Konstanty Ostrogski built a fortress at the village of Kolishchentsi. The surviving Starokostiantyniv Castle was constructed by his son between 1561 and 1571. The village grew into a town which became known as "Old Constantine's Town" (''Kostiantyniv Staryi'') to prevent confusion with "New Constantine's Town" in the vicinity. 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade
The 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade Vasyl Nikiforov, ''"Lieutenant General Vasyl Nikiforov"'' is a formation of the Ukrainian Air Force based at Kulbakino Air Base. The unit is equipped with Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft and is tasked with providing close air support for the Ukrainian Ground Forces and the Ukrainian Navy.
